Well I finally found a TA who said now is the time to plan - espcially since I am having a wedding over Memorial Day weekend!

Kittenheart - thanks for the mywedding.com - I love it! And I love that you do not have to have the "how we met" page activated. My Fiance said he did not want any of that stuff on the page - perfect!

My TIP: I keep a Memory Stick/Flash Drive in my purse with all of my wedding info - that way I can add things to it at work and home !

Jennifer, do you know how much Flight Center typically charges for their commission? Also, would your friend mind if I email regarding pricing as well?

Has everyone else used a TA or are they going direct through the hotel? Not sure which is the best way to do it as we have guests from all over Canada (mostly in BC), as well as guests from overseas, New Zealand and Australia. Suggestions?

Hi!

I'm not sure what their commission is at Flight Centre and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you emailed her. Her name is Marissa Bauzon and her email is
marissa_bauzon.bc@flightcentre.ca She is out of town right now, so I'm sure her out of office will direct you to someone else, so you can get a quicker response.

Alot of brides are here are going with TA's and from what I can tell, that's your easiest bet because all of your guests can go through one place. I have contacted hotels directly and if you're willing to book your hotel and flight seperate then, that is a route to take as well as they only book for hotels. I didn't get into discussing any deals with them, but it seems you are better off to get a package as it's less hassle to deal with connecting flights, etc. Signature vacations has the following deal for group travel (as I'm sure alot of the tour companies do):

Signature Vacations offers one complimentary adult for every 20 adults booked.

They also have a Price Guarantee. They will make a one-time price adjustment on the group prices if it goes lower. This is based on them having sufficient availability in the system to rebook the whole group at the lower price. This offer expires November 16/09. So we will have to keep checking to see if the prices go down.

Hope that helps! Let me know how you make out!

Jennifer

Hey all,

I'm getting married at Bahia Principe the week of January 25th. The reason i say week is because i don't have a wedding date yet (yikes!). Nervewracking! My TA told me the hardest part of a DW is picking where you want to go - maybe, maybe not.

We were under the impression DW were way more hassle free than a locally planned one. We're pretty laid-back people, so maybe the relatively last minute decision to do a DW has contributed to some of our dilemmas (I've seeing some girls planning for over a year on here - that is some impressive organizational skills).

Fingers crossed it all works out in the end.

Here's a cheer to all the 2010 brides!

Hi Ladies! I JUST did a tentative booking at Royal Playa Del Carmen for Jan 16 2010. I've been in the Royal PDC forum for a while and have just ventured out to other forums. There's just so much to read in here!! Aaahhh...info overload!

Kitten...which WC are you working with? I am with Angie Hayes. I wonder how many WC's work there because I've read about so many different ones from Royal PDC.

Hi ladies,

Figured I would post on here, since I am also a 2010 bride. January 21st at the Paradisus. Just recently got my date booked and am trying really hard to organize a great group rate to offer. I am already starting to get super excited as I can finally start worrying about the more fun stuff, like photog and dj etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
