Hi fellow 2010 brides! This is so fun and confusing and exciting and frustrating all at the same time... don't you think? I have booked the photographer - Claudia Rodriquez (was done to her and Moments that Matter - they dont include prints...). We have booked the location and the date. We have also made our STD boarding passes and they are at the printer. So, now what??

I Everyone!!!

I'm getting married on May 5, 2010 at the Gran bahia Principe Tulum!!! I'm soo Excited!! But just recently pretty stressed!! I thought I had everything under control, but I totally don't!! I don't even know where to start!!! I have my Dress!! So that's exciting!! I found dresses for my girls, but I have recently found out that they are no longer on the website... So I have to figure out if they still have them.(we should have purchased them right away) I don't know what to do now!!! I think I need step by step instructions on what to do... I feel lost!!

Have people booked yet? Everyone keeps saying they are so excited and can't wait!! But only 10 people have booked!!! Everyone was supposed to book by Aug 15th.. Doesn't look like that's going to happen!!I Everyone!!! Should I be worried about this??

What should I do next?? Any suggestions would be great!!

Now's the fun stuff! You have a great photographer, what do you want her to photograph? What do you want your wedding to look like? Do you have a theme? Entertainment? Outings?

Of course you don't need any of these, but if you're looking for things to do....

DaniellaP,

I'm marrying April 9, 2010 and I think only 2 people have booked out of the 100+ guests that we've sent STDs to. Most people aren't going to start booking until the invites get sent out and even then, they'll probably wait until about 3-4 months before the wedding - when things really get down to the wire. Plus, a lot of people are probably counting on things that are out of your control. Some people may be worried about getting laid off at work, so they want to hold off and see how the economy is before they shell out $1K+ on airfare, hotel and all that fun stuff. Others might not be sure if their schedule will permit it. We have friends that just opened a business and are waiting to see how the business does before they decide whether the whole fam should book or just a few of the kids. So don't stress... If people haven't booked by January, then I'd start to fret. Besides, your WC probably won't need to know specifics about the headcount until right around then anyway. Everything will turn out fine. :)

we're getting married on june 3rd, 2010 at Dreams Resort and Spa in Cancun. luckily for us we can book now and we 've just put our deposit down on our wedding package. for those of you that havn't booked a hotel yet just wanted you to know that Dreams has the most amazing beaches! having a little difficulty with communication from the hotel. it apparently takes them a million years to get back to you, but this seems to be normal after chatting with a few other brides:)

Deann - it's Jen! :-)

Yes, the hotels take a while to get back to you. I think they are also really busy with the weddings and probably aren't there everyday. So excited! xoxo

Hello everyone and congratulations on the upcoming weddings!

A new 2010 bride here! I am new to this site but I am so happy I found this thread!!! I got engaged in May, and I knew right away I wanted a destination wedding. I have been searching for the right place for months, and we finally decided on the Barcelo Maya Palace!!!! SO excited! After weeks and weeks of waiting we finally got the wedding date we wanted put on hold! Now whathuh.gif

I am playing around and attempting to do my own Save the Dates (passports), but I honestly donâ€t know what all to include! This is all so new to me and Iâ€m starting to feel a little overwhelmed!

DONT PANIC! We've all been there or are going through it and we're here to help so you've come to the right place! smile03.gif

You really dont need all that much info for an S.T.D and as I've found out from experience, dont stress over them or spend excess time and money! The majority of people think they are cute but really dont appreciate the effort you have gone to, I'd save time and money for the actual invites when you're much more likely to have a feel for who's actually going to come and include the detailed info for those people.

We bought cheap postcards with chillies in the shape of love hearts on to give a hint at our Mexican wedding. We made up a silly little rhyme that indicated the date and location and that was all.

People appreciate getting a heads up so they can weigh up their finances and start saving. The majority of people we sent them to backed out due to financial reasons at this stage (we fully expected this but thought it was still polite to send them) so now we dont have to waste time and money including reams of detailed info in invites for them.

You'll find plenty of inspiration and support on here... Enjoy

I hear ya girl - I was so confused as to what I should do next! I would interview at least 3 travel agents if you don't have one already and make sure you get the best deal - have them all get quotes for you and explain how you can get the best deals - and work with the one who comes back with the best stuff. I really regret my decision of Travel Agent. She is nice, but a bit scatter-brained and a one woman shop. I would go with a larger company and I would have interviewed more. Also, before you sign the wedding contract, find out what deals they are going to give you. Once you sign, its game over for negotiations. Maybe this was just my experience with Karisma resorts, but that is what has happened.

My save the dates I printed on Cardstock from Kinkos and mailed as a postcard. They were cute but not detailed. My invites were the Boarding passes and I have received more compliments than I thought I would. Everyone loved them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
