Welcome! Good luck in your site visit. Picking a resort is so hard. There's just so many great options.

YAY!!! More 2010 brides! I just got engaged a few weeks ago, and have been up to by eyeballs in hotel brochures and trip advisor reviews. I think I've finally settled on the Blue Bay Grande Esmeralda in Riviera Maya. I hear they are a little difficult to get in touch with, but they will do anything for you once you get them on the line. Does anyone have a list of their additional services, or menus, or pictures of weddings in the gardens instead of the beach?

Can't wait for advice from anyone! And I'll try to give whatever advice I can provide as well!!

I am also a 2010 bride and is new to the site. We got engaged in June 2008 and just recently decided on a DW. We're planning on having our wedding in May 2010. Our top priority is the cost for our guests, definitely AI and a resort with modern decor. The budget for our guests is $1000, which is reasonable as I've been to Mexico two times before and stayed 5-7 days and it cost me less than that.

We're actually attending a friends wedding at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa resort this May and are planning to do our site visits while we're there.

I agree w/ most of your frustrations! There's just too many resorts to choose from and it's hard to judge from just pictures.

hi guys,

looking at all of your threads this is how i have been feeling the last few weeks.

we now have everything confirmed for 15th feb 2010 @ riu palace riviera maya.we have booked it through a ta.

leogurl - we were torn between the moon palace and riu palace.we were really lucky our ta had been to both resorts and she preferred riviera maya.it is also good because with it being a riu resort there are i think 5 hotels in total which range from 3 star to the palace.therefore it makes it cheaper for your guests.however you do have to purchase them a pass for your wedding day.but i think it is also a good idea for the guests to stay in a different hotel but be close.but if you are spending your honeymoon elsewhere that wont matter.

it did,nt really effect us as there is only 4 of us.

This Thread is awesome!!

I am hoping to be married in Feb 2010. I have become slightly obsessed with researching resorts...haha...

I would LOVE to be married at Dreams Tulum, but I think my guests will find it a little pricey.

I went on a one-week vacation to Barcelo Maya Beach in Feb this year, and I absolutely loved it.. So I am seriouslty considering that resort as well.

Since it is made up of 5 resorts varying from affordable to more expensive, this allows the guests to book according to their budget.

Can't wait to confirm a location/date, so I can get to the fun stuff like decorations, invitations, etc. :)

Hello 2010 brides,

We decided on Dreams Puerto Aventuras May 15 2010. We like the fact that PA is a small gated community away from cancun. We have most of our magnet STD out. I'm just searching for my dress now. As a read more blogs I'm realizing that stressing about a million details before the wedding doesn't work well at the AI's. I've read all the hotel details and pricing and plan on showing up with a budget and if for example I can't get chair covers or 3 vs 1 appetizer for my budget... so be it. I chose a destination wedding for cost savings and ease but it also means that I can't have as much control as I might like. All in all I think less control, less expectations = more fun.... Any thoughts my fellow wise 2010 brides?

Hey everyone,

I'm getting married 02/26/2010 at the Valentin Imperial Maya. I did a site tour in March and the property was jaw dropping. Email communication has worked so far, I am using a TA from destinationweddings.com. So far I've learned that you pretty much make all of your final decisions once you get down there (two or three days before the wedding. yikes!)

Hey 2010 brides!! I was able to block off rooms at Dreams Tulum for my guests! I am starting to feel like I'm actually planning my wedding. Now I'm trying to decide a photographer, I have narrowed it down to two - Claudia Rodriguez or Moments That Matter.

Happy planning everyone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
