Hi girls,

I was just married in Tulum, so I don't qualify for the 2010 thread, but I was exactly where all of you were a year ago. I've made three trips down to the Cancun/Tulum area in the last year and have visited almost every resort and boutique hotel between Maroma and Tulum.

I ended up in Tulum, away from the resorts. All of my guests were well traveled outdoorsmen and would have been disappointed if I would have sent them to a resort that could have been duplicated in San Diego or Vegas. We were the only ones on the beach for our ceremony and had the reception in a mansion built by the infamous drug loard, Pablo Escobar. It was a truly intimate and authentic experience. Drop me a line if you want to run your ideas past me.

Here are pics from my wedding.

Congrats to everyone! I am dealing with the exact same stuff, it's nice to know others can relate to the frustration. We are planning on getting married in May 2010 and I can't seem to find the perfect place. Do any of you have a wedding coordinator/destination travel agent that you are using and highly recommend? I am having troubles finding a "reliable" agent to help me get rid of the stress.

bitohoney,

I recommend using the advertisement at the top of the page for TA's. I think that they all specialize in destination weddings, and if they are not available they refer you to someone else who also specializes in destination weddings. I was lucky to find someone who was able to get me a good deal with Moon Palace, which is the original resort I wanted. It's still expensive, but I am happy with my TA so far. Let me know if you want her information.

I have been in contact with TA Tammy from the forum. So far everything is going well.

Anyone else having trouble contacting the TA's of this forum? I've filled out the form twice now over the last two months and still no response. The first time I didn't pick a specific TA because i had no clue where to have my wedding, but i've narrowed it down to DR or Jamaica so the the second time i picked Dina. any suggestions?

Hello everyone! Im glad there are a lot of us going through the same thing. I have been engaged since June 2008, but I just started planning last week! I am a teacher also, so my FI and I will be getting married the week of July 4th 2010. We have not decided on a Destination yet! We are either going to tie the knot in Jamaica or Mexico! I have been looking at reviews from resorts, I thought that would help narrow my search, but it hasn't. We know we don't want to get married on the beach and we do want an AI for guest. We have decided on the Passport save the dates my mom will be taking on the project as a DIY. Congrats to everyone and I hope this process gets a lot easier for all of us! Thanks for the thread!

TdMitchell, I have been looking all over the place for a destination as well, but haven't narrowed it down like you have, so you are on the right track. Two places that I found where you don't have to be married on the beach and have gotten great reviews from what I can see, are The Caves (in Jamaica) and The Rockhouse (in Jamaica) - not sure if they have AI available. Don't know if that helps, but I tried. congratulations.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
