Hello 2010 Brides!!! It's so refreshing to know that I'm not alone in my happiness...excitement...and frustration! Rainfall & Cara- I'm the same as both of you! I can't stop looking at resorts! Now I think it's been more counterproductive because I am confusing myself & making the choice harder! I need to buckle down & come to a decision!

If anyone is interested in using a local hairstylist and makeup artist instead of the spa at the resort I have obtained pricing from Alexandro Zavala - Alexandro Zavala - Maquillista Estilista - Cancn, Mxico. He has been very easy to deal with through email, and he was able to answer all of my questions. He will come to the resort with a hairstylist (so I am responsible for paying for their day pass - at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach it is only $50 per person) and his pricing is as follows:

Bride - Hair and Make-up - $250

Bridesmaids - Hair and Make-up - $95

If you book 90 days in advance and pay 50% upfront he will provide you with a 15% off discount. It seems to be safe as he requires payment through PayPal. As the price for the Bride seems a bit high, I have done my research quite thoroughly, and these prices are consistent with the spa at my resort and considering I have heard that they don't do that great of a job I am looking forward to Alexandro coming to take care of us! He sent me pictures of previous bridal parties that he attended to, and all looks good to me.

So I'm a little early for your thread (dec 09) but I'm in the process of looking and booking right now and thought you girls might be doing, or trying to do this to. So anyways has anyone looked at Luxe Blue Tulum...I read the post from this last year and am alittle worried a bout booking there with out hearing anything good since then.

Hi fellow 2010 brides.

I am getting maried in the Mayan Riviera, early January 2010 I am in the same boat as most of you. I am trying to pick a resort but, like many of you, I keep canging my mind. I also want to keep it affordable for my guests. I am interested in knowing why you picked your resort if you have picked one already. The only thing I want is to be barefoot in the sand when I say I do.

Hi all I am also a soon to be 2010 bride but have NO IDEA which resort to go with it's overwhelming! Price is definitely our #1 determining factor for our guests, along with a family resort for our 11 month old daughter and several guests who have children. Our TA talked us into late April after Easter she said the prices are much more reasonable. We have been researching Iberostar Pairiso Lindo and Moon Palace, both family resorts. Only negative I have found for Moon Palace was the beach. Iberostar does not seem to have the wedding package option that Moon Palace does though.. Decisions! In reading everyones posts there seems to be many bride to be's booking at other resorts such as Dreams and Riu. Any advice/info. from anyone would be so much appreciated! Look forward to chatting with you all soon!

Hi Danielle77! I too am having a hard time deciding on a resort and have my heart set on a barefoot in the sand wedding. So I have eliminated any resorts that do not offer a beach wedding, but really most of them do. I'm leaning towards Moon Palace, which is where I started off wanting to go but changed my mind because of the price for guests. Ultimately though, they offer the wedding package I want for the cheapest price. At other resorts I'd be paying thousands more for things I do not even want. And one bonus is that MP guests who stay 3+ nights get FREE excursions to the ruins, arachaeological sites, Wet n' Wild, snorkeling, etc. I know we will be doing as much of that stuff as possible, and will be saving up to $100/person per excursion. So I'm thinking it's likely we will be going there, and if people feel like it's too pricey they don't have to come. We are planning a huge AHR 4 months after Mexico for all of those people. I think the people who really want to be there will be there no matter what, so we will likely do Moon Palace unless their prices go up for 2010 at an unreasonable rate in comparison to other resorts.

Hey everyone, another 2010 bride here! It's nice to see that there are many of you on here... when I first got engaged last year and started looking on here it seemed like I was the only one! I'm still totally torn about locations also, although personally I am loving the idea of something in the Playa del Carmen area. I just wish I could take the wedding packages from this resort and put them together with the rooms from this other resort, and the beach from another resort, and so on... you know what I mean? Haven't found the perfect place yet. And we'll be having all ages for guests from babies to seniors too so that is making it tricky as well. I'm dying to get more info on Dreams Riviera Cancun because I really feel like it may tick off all my boxes... the only thing I am worried about is price! For those of you agonizing over all the choices out there: I feel your pain!!!

Hi everyone! I am also a 2010 bride and I'm so glad to see a number of other brides who have chosen the Barcelo Maya. My FI and I got engaged in August 08 and we have been researching resorts like crazy. We finally decided on the Barcelo for April 22, 2010, but I'm in the same boat as everyone else LOL. I have actually been in touch with the WC, but they're not able to secure my date until we have flight confirmations, so just waiting on those. We have already sent out our STD's which were really Save the Weeks. We figured this would at least give our guests an idea of what time of the year to plan for. I'm planning to do a short site visit with my sister/MOH in April, so for those interested in the Barcelo, let me know if there is anything specific you would like me to find out. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you a little better in the coming months! Happy planning, everyone!

I am a 2010 bride as well. Nothing is booked yet though!! I am a teacher so it's going to be in July ....we think the 15th or so ....give or take a day. We plan on having it in Cabo and are trying to decide between Dreams and the Riu Palace. It's definitely a hard decision though, and price is a factor. Dreams is pricey and I feel like no of our guests will actually show up once they realize how much it will cost them!
I am a teacher as well, which is why i'm getting married in July also :) let me know what resort you decide on, I'm also very undecided!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
