Riu Palace Tropical Bay Brides Post Here!

We're narrowing it down between RTBP, Iberostar Suites and Hilton Rose Hall. We did visit Riu Negril as well, but decided if we were to choose a Riu, it'd be the RTBP.

IslandGirl: We also considered the IRHS in MoBay but they don't have any June 2011 availability left, so we are leaning more and more towards the RTBP.

While Negril is not known for it's night life, I think we have decided that most of our guests need some rest. If they want to go into town there are options, they would just have to make an effort to do it. Also, nothing beats those beautiful beaches of Negril....

Do you mind sharing what your other two options are?

Great response! Your response about there not being a lot of brides at RPTB actually eased my nerves a little bit, thanks! Right now it's looking like it's just you and me on here.....

I received the package from the Riu and chose the free wedding with the thought that we will upgrade to a bigger package once we get into specifics.

Are you planning on customizing your wedding? I have LOTS of plans to customize our wedding, now if our budget allows it, is a totally different story!

As for the chairs, in some pictures they look like regular plastic beach chairs. The covers I saw were white. The covers made the chairs look much better, but have you seen any other chair options or is that something you have to arrange with the florist?

We definitely want a private reception (We have to have a formal introduction as Mr and Mrs and we want a first dance!). We also don't want to be rushed in our celebration.

I never asked, what day are you getting married?

Thanks again for the support. cheer2.gif

I am getting married in January (as in two months).  I chose the Caprice Package and have added a bunch.  We are having a welcome dinner buffet on the beach ($55 per person) with a steel drum band.  We are also having a private reception at the Steak House with about 50-65 guests.  $12 per chair is too much for me so I am going to stick with the cheap plastic look (I think), or ask the florist.  I have to say Ann Marie has been EXTREMELY slow getting back to me and I have only contacted her twice in the 8 or 9 months since we booked.  In addition it is frustrating that they make you pay $300 for off site vendors.  I still am happy I chose the resort as it gets great reviews on Trip Advisor and Expedia and I thought it was really beautiful, but every place has it's ups and downs (I happen to be currently awaiting a response from Ann Marie after three emails and two calls so I am less enthusiastic today).  When are you getting married?

I chose the Riu Negril for mine :)  Reasons - my aunt and uncle went in May and absolutely LOVED the resort, I have friends who have been and loved it as well.... and my FMIL actually just came across some of her friends who had just been and had a blast as well.  My FI and I are also on a tight budget (hence the DW in the first place) and the Riu Negril is cheaper than the RPTB. My Aunt who had been (and who is also our TA) explained the two to us like this: Riu Negril is a gorgeous 5 star resort with amazing service and amazing food.  While the RPTB is a 5.5 star resort with mainly esthetid differences like built in chairs in the pool. To some the 5.5 star might be more appealing, but to FI and I who have never travelled in our lives, the Riu Negril sounded perfect to us :)  I also really liked the fact that it doesn't seem to be one of the most popular/busy ones among brides on here (like ROR). I'm hoping for my trip and wedding to be as relaxing as possible. :) We are doing the Free Package and couldn't be more excited!  ... the WC has also been really great so far always getting back to me within 2 days of emailing her a question. :) Wishing your sister the best of luck in making her decision

forgot to add, that when my friends went, they took a dorky video walking around the whole resort which they sent to me -- allowing me to have a 'site visit' without really going ;)  i was definitely happy about our decision after seeing that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
