my wedding dress is very fitted

Recommended Posts

So.... my wedding dress arrived last week. First of all I wasn't expecting it until march or april so I spend the week practically hysterical with excitment!

Itook my maid or honor and one of my bridesmaids who was in town to lunch and I ate 4 whole pieces of french toast a few mimosas and a side of bacon. the whole time I'm just talking how much I love bacon etc.

As soon as we get to the bridal salon and I get my dress on its clear that it does not want to zip up at all...... So I start crying about how I shouldn't have eaten ALL 4 peices PLUS the bacon blush2.gif.

Eventually, after the salegirl left me and my friends to our own devices that we were finally able to figure out if I took off the stapless the bra she gave me and literally squeeze my rib cage while exhaling to zip the thing up. I know I've put on a little weight. I'm very small boned and so I guess like 5-8 lbs. all went to my belly area.

I'm so happy I figured this out now and can plan on deffinately going to a diet.

The great thing is I'm pretty sure that I won't be needing any alterations other than a french bussel and now that I can't weat the strapless bra I was thinking about having boobie cups (I don't know the realy name) to fill up the area and hold my boobies up.

Has this happened to anyone else? I know I can't be the only one.

I have not had this happen to me personally cuz my wedding is not until April 2010.

-Lord knows I need to drop a few, okay 20 pounds by then though! muscle.gif

Don't beat urself up about this!

I know this may seem like the end of the world but you are right in saying that you have time. Plenty of time! That's definitely a good thing!!

I ordered my dress the exact same size as the sample that I tried on because it fit perfectly. What no one told me was that the sample is stretched because so many people have tried it on! So when my dress came in, I was expecting it to fit just fine but I can barely breathe in it! It was pretty disapointing. So I know how you feel. Like you, mine came in early so at least I have time to alter me to fit into the dress!

Hi Sophie, you still have a lot of time to start a workout routine and new eating habits. You are young and can knock a few pounds off in no time.

I met with the tailor and showed him my dress last Saturday and one of the changes he is going to make is to lift my girls up and give me some cleavage. :)

My girls are probably going to shrink after losing a few pounds so that change will be much needed. Ping me if you want the address/phone number for the tailor.

As poohshek said you have plenty of time to drop a few pounds. muscle.gif Just be thankful you received your dress early so you can make a plan. I have heard of this happening only a week before the wedding...

I had the same feeling you did when I got my dress. The sample I tried on was WAY too big for me but when they pinned it back I loved how it fit on me. So they measured me and told me what size to order so I did...well, when my dress came in it fit, but it wasn't even close to the same fit as when they had the other one pinned back. It was skin tight everywhere, even though the one I tried on fell away from my body a little with the a-line shape. Luckily, like you, I had enough time to get some weight off before my wedding and now it fits me just like I want it to. I have to get it taken in at the bust but the rest will flow nicely now!! Don't worry, you'll be so happy about it and feel so beautiful in it very soon! It's not easy to lose the weight but no one has better motivation than a bride to be trying to fit into her dress!! Good luck!

I had a somewhat different experience. I purposely ordered my dress at the size I was but has since lost some weight. My tailor swears the dress is supposed to be tight and literally left me ZERO room for error. I am so worried now and having nightmares of not being able to fit into it. I will be breathing air for the next 3.5 weeks...LOL..Sigh..not funny at all!

Is there any space to be let out? My dress measurements were taken right after my birthday/graduation parties where I ate all I wanted including an entire peanut butter pie (yum, pie) and I had not been to the gym in a month d/t my schedule. I tried to tell the seamstress that I was normally smaller but she didn't believe me. When I came back for the final fitting sure enough my strapless dress slid right down! She then overcompensated and made it so tight on top I thought my ladies would pop right out. I made her let the dress backout a bit, it didn't fit just right but it wasn't falling or popping. My advice, eat what you want, just keep it in moderation and don't be afraid to ask for options in alterations. Don't worry or you'll just add more stress weight.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
