Hi BethBride,

We were getting married on July 1st but since my FI is a teacher and school isn't out until the 30th next year we had to bump it by a week. We are now getting married on July 8th 2010 :)

So now that we have our date reserved, what do we do? Have any of you started talking to the resort about wedding details?

Hi Barbara!

I am a teacher too! Along with my parents, maid of honor, FI's dad, & brother in law....hahaha we have lots of teachers! We were originally doing the last week in June, but then bumped it to July 1 for the same reason.

I'm not sure what is next. I emailed Victoria, but she hasn't gotten back to me. How many people are you expecting? Do you have rates for travel yet?

Hi Beth! I'm so excited to finally meet someone who is getting married on the same date-- and we live fairly close to each other as well! What's even funnier is that I hope to be working in the schools as well, I am graduating next month with my masters in Speech language Pathology. That's why we booked it for July 1st!
We already booked the date through barcelo. We have been in contact with travel agents so that everyone can book their hotel and airfare through them, however, booking online still seems to be cheaper!

Hi Beth,

We have 3 teachers coming too! :) We have rates already. It's a bit pricey as we are out of Vancouver Canada. It's about $1900 per person and the kids don't get too good of a rate... But we only have two young kids coming (my nieces). We have almost 30 people booked already! :)

Does anyone know what to do next? Do I start talking to the coordinator there about what we want to do? I do however want to wait until I have a more accurate number of guests before I pick my package.

I'm in University to become an elementary school French teacher! We should rename this thread 'teachers getting hitched!' wink.gif

Oh and I called Barcelo directly using Skype and got through to the coordinators both times! I have read everywhere about Barcelo coordinators being difficult to get a hold of via email... So maybe make a list of your questions and call! :)

Does anyone have the new 2010 prices? Also, for those that have stayed at the palace before...were you guests at the tropical allowed anywhere at the palace? I know they have specific pools and restaurants that you can only go to if you stay at the palace. But what about the bars and the beach? Also, are they allowed in the palace rooms? I'm wondering if we can have people in our rooms that are staying at the tropical/colonial? Just to get ready together or have a few drinks before going out. Anyone have an experiance with this? Thank you!

Barbo, I told the WC my package at the beginning and approx number of guest. I have since changed my package. I think it's okay to change pretty much everything up until you get there. I think they e-mail you about a month in advance with more specific questions. If you have special requests, such as music or location, etc. It helps to let them know asap so you can reserve your spots. I hear they do up to 6 weddings per day at all the different resorts, so pick your spot early!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
