Hello!

I'm thinking about having my DW at the Barcelo Maya Palace? Has anyone had their DW there? What advice can you give? And what are the pros and cons of having my wedding there?

Also, do you think Grand Riveria Princess or Moon Palace are better resorts for DW?

Thanks

Kamerrence

Hi Kamerrence,

I was at the Barcelo Maya Palace in June 2008. I did not get married there but it was a beautiful resort! We had an amazing time! My FI and I actually got engaged there! If your looking for a small resort it definatly is not. The beach is spectacular! I am sure a wedding there would be beautiful. Good luck!

Hello Kamerrence,

We are also planning our wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace. I have seen a few weddings there and they look absolutely beautiful. I have heard that the gazebo location isn't the most private spot to have a wedding, however I have seen some photos of weddings there, and they still look wonderful. We are planning our wedding for the gazebo location. If we decide against it, we can always change our minds when we're there and meet with the wedding coordinator. There is a thread in this forum also strictly for Barcelo Maya Palace brides. You should check it out. :) Hope that helps a bit.

The gazebo is right in the middle of the resort (not really private). I am not sure what 'the grill' is.... one of the restaurants? I am not sure if it is near there. It is close to a few of the restaurants and the buffets. I think I have a picture of it somewhere if you would like to see it. Let me Know!

Hi!

DH and I actually recently got married at the Barcelo Maya Palace. In Nov. We too got married in the Gazebo. Which is NOT private!!! In the beginning I wasn't too keen on it. But it worked out so beautifully. I look at our pro pics and I think the location and its stunning. Most ppl give you privacy though... They stare for like two min. and then keep walking. Besides... I know from my experience... I wasn't even paying ANY attention to the ppl walking around or looking. All that mattered was DH! <3 It was like it was just the two of us up there. It was so beautiful!!!

Best of luck and Happy planning!!!! :)

Thanks Dreamstbride and CaraW!!! Your advice HELPS! My Fi and I have decided on a beach wedding at Barcelo. This should be more private. Also Dreamstbride, your pics are breathtaking! Who was your photographer? I notice in the Barcelo's wedding packages a photographer isnt provided. So will the hotel suggest photographers for you? Also did you do any tours outside the hotel? My Fi wants to see the Mayan temples. Let me know, and CaraW keep me posted on your plans!! This is SO exciting!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
