Your Wedding Resort Choice and Why??

Recommended Posts

We choose The Excellence Riviera Cancun at first because we fell in love with photos I saw from another bride. It actually made me choose a DW. After looking at the rooms, packages, restaurant and bar options and such I knew it was our #1 choice. The WC is amazing, and has been great so far. I've compared many resorts and they just haven't compared to me. I also loved the wedding setup they have, and the beach is beautiful too. They have wonderful grounds for pictures.

We chose Secrets Maroma Beach for a few reasons:

my ultimate number one choice was Maroma-Orient Express...that was WAAAAYY too expensive for our guests and even for me. So, I then wanted to be on the same beach since it has been rated in the top 10 beaches by the Travel channel multiple times.

I really wanted a beach ceremony.

The beach could not have sandbags, spikes, or much erosion

The resort was new so I knew everything would look nice

We wanted all inclusive and adults only

We wanted it far enough away from Cancun so that the whole strip of resorts wasn't in the background of our pictures

We wanted to be close enough to PDC that we could go there to shop, etc

The Royal PDC was our close second choice but I liked SMB's beach better

This is kind of dumb: no wrist bands at SMB and no reservations need to made for the restaurants....and we never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for a table

I am stil trying to choose the resort as well. Can't wait till this decision is made. Seems to be the hardest one for me to make. The resorts I am trying to choose between are:

Dreams Cabo (which is my #1, but I'm worried it will be to costly for my family, and also the lack of nightlife)

Dreams Tulum- afraid it's to remote

Dreams Cancun-

Royal Playa Del Carmen

Riu Cabo- afraid they will be harder to work with compared to dreams

These are what I am trying to choose between. Any advice is welcome. I have read many many posts. Good luck to everyone.

We Chose Blue Tulum Resort and spa because we wanted a small intimate resort with out hundreds of looky loos,. We also wanted to have it be are day and be the only wedding going on. All the rooms are suits and beautiful. They have an incredible chef who runs all there restaurants from Germany and the food is supposed to be amazing. They also always go out of there way for us and charge us less where other resorts seem to nickel and dime.

We decided on the Tulum area for a few reasons. One reason we have 50 people flying down and range from ages 7 to 85 and the Gran Bahia Principe Complex offer something for everyone because you stay at one and play at all three. One thing we wanted was a wedding on the beach so Tulum is on the beach. However Iâ€m sure you are able to have your wedding on the beach with the other resorts in the complex.

This resort was in the price range that we were looking for and could accommodate the number of people. Also the requirements to be married there were easy to gather. All you need is your passports and tourist cards and the passports of your 4 witnesses if you have never been married before. Iâ€ve been reading of the horror stories from the other brides trying to fill all the requirements.

The day after we booked and finalized our resort the wedding coordinator e-mailed me. My coordinatorâ€s name is Jazmin and she is awesome!!! Iâ€m completely happy will everything Iâ€ve picked by e-mail and know that it will be perfect when I get down there. Also I was able to look at the packages for the wedding on line. They have a great website.

Hope this helps! Congrats again!

WE stayed at the resort a few years ago and LOVED it and severl family memebers have stayed there as well. Everyone has nothing but great things to say about. PPl are super friendly, rooms nice, clean resort, and the best thing is they have a tram that takes you back and forth to the beach...really good espcially if you have older ppl travelling with you. Good luck with your search.

The Royal has an excellent location. It has a sister property right next door in case we have guests with families or need a cheaper alternative. Also it is one block from 5th avenue in Playa del Carmen (famous for night time entertainment and shopping) so our guests will have many options without an expensive cab ride.

I spend months reading reviews on Trip advisor and this resort ended up having everything I wanted!

Good luck in your search and use trip advisor! It was a life savor in deciding!
We chose The Royal for the exact same reasons!
My Wedding co ordinator (paty) has been awesome, she gets back to me quickly and doesn't seem to get frustrated with my millions of silly questions.
I liked that it was central to all the fun and downtown, close enough to the ferry to cozumel and absolutely gorgeous on the resort for the FI's family who doesn't like to leave the property.
I am really looking forward to the wedding there...should be quite nice!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
