Tall Girls - where do you shop?

Anyone who is tall - like 5'10"+, where do you girls shop? To find jeans that aren't high waters. To find shirts that come down to your wrists, and don't end up at your elbows when you raise your arms. To find pants that you can wear heels with and not look like the definition of unfashionable.

Any suggestions for stores that are specifically for tall women? Or any stores that have a specialty line for tall women? Usually if you want a tall size you have to order it (like a JC Penney, you have to order tall sizes from the catalog) so you wait all that time to get the item, try it on and ehhh it's not exactly what you wanted so send it back. What a hassle!

Hi- I am 5'11 and I have the same problems! It's expensive, but I have gotten work pants from Ann Taylor.com. I usually wear the long & lean jeans from the gap. If you have a nordstrom, they usually have jeans in the store that goes up to a 36" inseam. If your lucky, you can find some of them at Nordstrom Rack. Eddie Bauer has some ok dress shirts in tall sizes. I have tried the Tall Girl store and I thought that it was JUNK and over priced! I have to wear a suit everyday and I wish I could find quality cute business suits in tall sizes that won't break the budget! I have the same problem looking for shoes too! :)

I order from JC Penney's. I know you have to order on line and wait, but the turn-around time is actually less than a week. I have found through the years, the styles and sizes that fit me the best and just order those. Their dress pants fit me well (5th Avenue, I believe) and you can get any of the major jean brands (Levi's, etc.) I actually find the tall tops to be too long for me, as all my height is in my legs (34" inseam).

Good luck!

I am not above 5'10", I'm 5'8" but I have this problem as well. I have found some long jeans at Buckle, they are just so expensive, for me anyway. I have a 34 1/2" inseam and struggle with even the jeans that are long enough when I buy them seem to shrink while they hang in my closet. I never dry any pants or long sleeve shirts, but after wearing them a few times, they seem to get shorter. I have just pretty much given up at this point (I don't have the money to shop at all) so I just stick with the ballet flats and 3/4 length sleeves.

Not even my winter coat sleeves are long enough for me.

I'm 5'10" and unfortunately I've realized we have to spend more on clothes to get clothes that fit! Here is what works for me:

Jeans: Seven, Citizens of Humanity, True Religion, Chip & Pepper

Shirts: I don't seem to have much of a problem with shirts - I usually find them at Nordstrom, but I've also had luck at J Crew, Banana Republic, Free People, and more

Work Stuff: Victoria's Secret Catalog has been great - you can get 34" or 36" inseam on pants so that is where I get my work pants.

Good luck - I know it is not always fun being tall ! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Victorias Secret Catalogue has 36 inseam. I like them bc once you figure out what fit you like best, (I really like the Christy Fit) it makes ordering easy. Also I like seven jeans and Notified Jeans, I actually bought a pair of Notified Jeans once that i Had to have taken up, that was a first in life. I am 5'10

Well, Im pretty much 6'2" when I wear shoes (I wish I was 5'10",then I could wear 3 inch heels!!). I dont ever really have a problem finding clothes, but I tend to shop mostly online.

For jeans I swear by Rock and Republic (which are pricey but man they fit great), and Joe's jeans (style rocker and twiggy come in 36" inseam).

For dress pants I find Zara always carries a 36" inseam in alot of their pants.

And I shop at jcrew and banana alot for tops as well. Gonna try jcrews pants right away.

btw I hated being tall until I was about 21 or 22 and just really grew into myself, now I love love love it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
