Villa Girls-- How ru handling this?

Recommended Posts

Ok all Villa brides-- I need your advice.

I'm very torn between having the wedding at a villa or at a hotel. For those of you having the wedding at a villa, how are you deciding who is going to stay at the villa with you? Also, are you paying for your guests staying at the villa with you or are they paying for their themselves? Any problems or difficulty in asking your villa guests to pay you for their rooms?

We'd really like to have the wedding at a villa but the villa we love is a bit expensive for us to foot the bill for our guests. I'd love to here how you are handling this same situation.

Thanks so much!

We are going with a villa and we are having just immediate family and one set of aunt/uncle! They are all paying for themselves, we just split the Villa 5 ways since there are 5 bedrooms and it was no problem at all.

I think the Villa is the way to go! Let us know what you decide!

I completely agree with what you are saying. The villa wedding gives you so many options without having to deal with hotel restrictions. Such a plus when you start dealing with outside vendor fees.

And of course, you don't want to be separated from your guests after they have come such a long way to see you.

We are doing our wedding at Villa Mediterreaneo in PV and they let us rent it for just Friday (the day of our ceremony and reception). Look into that one, b/c it is a perfect setup for ceremony, cocktail and reception and will le tyou rent it for just one night (even on the weekend)

Hi WindyCity! I have the exact same problem and have not really made any firm decisions about it yet. I was also concerned with how to deal with staying at the villa with my FI before the wedding (b/c at most villas you need 3+ nights, which would include the night before the wedding)...we're not uber-traditional, but would like at least that night apart...

In any event, I'm checking out TONS...I mean TONS!! of villas on our scoping trip this weekend (Th-Mo) and I'll be sure to take lots of pics and let you know what our WC thoughts are. I intend to ask lots of these types of questions because she'll have a good idea about what the options are.

As of now though, I think we're planning on trying to find a villa that will let us do 3 nights (or even Mediterraneo that will allow one) and we'll pay for our bridal party to stay with us (3 for him, 3 for me) as a gift. A big price, but that will be one of the big factors in deciding a villa I guess... Hope this helps!

  • 1 month later...

Hi! We decided on a villa and Randy and I just went down our guest list and chose 6 people that were top priority to stay with us at the villa. We let them know that they don't have to because we knew it was expensive, but that we would love it if they could and we wanted to offer it to them first. That way, they knew they were committing to pay for their spot, but if they couldn't commit, they could find their own accomodations (I suggested nearby ones with diffrent prices). People could say no if they wanted a resort or cheaper places. Then, we went to the next few people (next 6 or so) that were close to us and the next priority and so forth. It took us about two weeks of slowly and methodically going down the list to get the villa filled up (26 rooms) with people that seriously committed and really wanted to stay with us and the rest who didn't know for sure can stay nearby! :-) It worked well for us. I'll keep you updated if that changes, though, as we are still more than a year away from our wedding date!

ps. We chose a mixture of family and friends based on who we are closest to and who we would want to spend 4 days together with. There were definitely a lot more people than that, but at least we have our closest people with us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
