Experienced DW Brides did you regret the Big Dress ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies Just wondering For a beach wedding was your Big wedding dress a nuisance? I am debating on a flowy dress or going for the big princess dress. I just wondered how the faired for your wedding? was it too hot and annoying draggin in the sand or would you always opt for the BIG dress?

Any and all comments are welcome!

I loved my dress. It was a pain walking in the sand with it, but after the ceremony it was fine. At that point I didn't care if it got dragged around the sand or got wet. Surprisingly I wasn't that hot in mine at all. I hated the slip underneath, and took that off immediately after the ceremony. Once that was off, I felt like a champion.

My adivce is wear the dress you have always wanted to wear. When I first went dress shopping, I was looking at more simple dresses, but once I put "my" dress on...there was no turning back.

I loved my big dress. It was what I always wanted and I don't think that i would have felt "bridal" in anything less.

I had a kinda pouffy TTD, that I changed into after dinner, but because it was a little tight, not because it was hot or heavy

I had envisioned wearing a flowy, non poufy dress, and I wanted something v-neck that had thicker straps so I wouldn't have to worrry too much about tan lines. When I started trying on all the non-poufy dresses they only came in small sample sizes so I couldn't even get them on to even get an idea of what they would look like on me. The ones that did fit were more of a traditional, poufy style dress. I didn't think the dress I got was super poufy compared to others I tried on, and I didn't add a slip or anything underneath. I really loved the beading on my dress and on the cathedral length train so I went with it. Yes, I was hot, but I think I would have been hot in anything I wore since our wedding happened to be the hottest day while we were in Mexico. I say go for a dress you love and feel comfortable with. The worst thing would be to pick a dress you think is appropriate for the location, but not loving the way you look in it.

I have the same dilemma. Already bought a dress that is fit-to-flare in silk taffeta. It is a really nice designer dress but now I am starting to think maybe a chiffon gown will work better on the beach. Tried on WTOO Clarissa today and absolutely loved it! Just worried it may look too plain in pictures and regret it in the end.

I never had the vision of a particular dress, I just went shopping and the first one I liked I ordered. I can't lie...June in Mexico is hot and I was feeling it, but I changed into a white sundress after the first dance and I felt so much cooler. I wouldn't have done it differently though.

I think you should wear what you want to wear because the day goes by so fast and you don't get a re-do so wear the dress you love :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
