Where are you legally marrying?

Recommended Posts

I've heard in order to bypass international red tape, some couples have civil cermonies in the state and symbolic unions abroad. At this point Jay and I are having a civil and legal ceremony in Tulum Mexico. The legal requirements don't seem too bad and our wedding coordinator will assist. Thank goodness we don't need chest x-rays (Some Mexican regions require this)

Since I'm divorced, I have to present translated copies of my birth certificate and divorce decree. Has anyone had experiance with the legal marital process in Mexico? Has all gone smoothly?

We decided that we are also doing it legally in the states then go to Cabo for ceremony. In the beginning of all the planning we thought we were going to have the whole thing (legalities and such) in Cabos but then Erik said he didn't want to go 3 days prior to mexico just to do blood work and I don't like needles. Also we didn't want to do all that paper work you have to do.

So we've decided to do legal stuff in CA. and ceremony in Cabos.

I am getting married legally here in the states b/c I hate needles and it just seems easier than having everything translated. Plus while we def want a beach wedding, it is very important to us and our families to get married in a Catholic Church so we will have our legal/religious ceremony here in the U.S.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
