Air Jamaica stopped flights out of ATL, MIA, & LAX

My TA called to notify me that Air Jamaica will no longer fly out of ATL, MIA, & LAX. I don't know if this is permanent but they won't be flying in March. Yes, my wedding month. censored.gif I have guest coming out of ATL and LAX. I had to switch our flight to Delta recently due to Air Jamaica cancelling Wednesday flights out of ATL. Now they are stopping service in March. I have 7 guest who will have to book on other airlines. I wonder if they're about to go under.

Wow...that is crazy! Sorry you're dealing with this! Although it sucks & probably doesn't ease the pain, at least you're finding out about this now & not in March!!!

Do your guests that had already booked with them, get all of their $ back?

I decided to google this to see what I found in terms of them going out of business & this is what came up:

Jamaica Gleaner News - Air Jamaica: Time's up - Friday | June 13, 2008

Air Jamaica pulling out of MIA - Triangle Business Journal:

Air Jamaica to end service to Miami - Breaking News - Business - MiamiHerald.com

So it seems like they are being sold but trying to stay in business. I guess time will tell!

Yes, they offered to switch them to the next closest city they service or full refunds. The closest city from Atlanta would be Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale. They requested refunds but it will take them 3-6 weeks to get it. Thanks for the info.

Calling my TA - this is making me nervous....

My flights are still ok for May out of ATL, but I have a feeling I will be booking last minute on another carrier....just something else to stress over I suppose.

My entire family is flying Air Jamaica out of JFK. Hopefully nothing negative will come out of that!

Thanks! I kinda figured this was going to happen....

I have sent this e-mail to my TA so hopefully we can get this worked out. As long as I get a full refund, I don't really care at this point about the cancellation. I think I am actually just going to fly out of Raleigh or Charlotte.

I just hope that everyone in my family (10 flying out of JFK) don't run into this too

Yeah, my flight is cancelled. I hate Air Jamaica. My TA said not to expect a refund for up to 6 months. So now I'm out $600.00 for the forseeable future. Not to mention that I have 9 people flying Air Jamaica out of JFK and there is no mention as to whether they are going to cancel that or go bankrupt...

So its kind of a limbo thing at this point.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
