Question about Weddings in Cabo (Specifically at Sheraton Hacienda del Mar)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone...my Future Father-in-law just got back from a cruise where they stopped in Cabo. They stopped by the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar where we will be getting married in 3 and a half months. Well, he called to tell us the place isn't that nice for one. Then he told us that there are vendors selling stuff on the hotel property and apparently they stand there the entire time of the ceremony and reception. Is this true!? He said it looks "trashy." I think the palapa area is amazing. He also saw it without decorations. I can live with him thinking it isn't all that great, but I am worried about the vendors.

Wow, I have never heard this before. I am getting married on the beach as well and would not want vendors around. I am going to email my contact there and see if this is the case or not. I would assume since its a private resort that they would not be allowed to do this. Has anyone else heard about this or experienced this at their wedding? Please let us know. Thanks!!

OK first of all.. NO IT'S NOT TRUE. I got married there and feel free to click on my slideshow in my siggy, and you will notice NO VENDORS are there. During the day, yes their are some on the beach but after 5 they all go home. Besides they are asked to stay way froma wedding. IMO the resort was BEAUTIFUL, the food was great, everything was perfect.

Ok - I talked to my wedding coordinator last night. We will be getting married at the Palapa (maybe changing) and there are carts with vendors along the pathway to the Palapa and right next to it. She said the vendors leave, but the carts stay which I am okay with. I was so worried when I heard that and pictured the vendors harassing my guests. ha!!

Hey there.

What TAmmy and Vari said is totally true, vendors are sort of a daily issue here in Cabo, but they even have a schedule, after 16:30 - 17:00, they start paking and leave, since most people leave at that time. You shouldn't worry to much about it, you'll see that, they won't appear nowhere near you wedding.

I'm really surprised and sorry that your future father in-law gave you a negative review of the Sheraton. I have to disagree with him. I was just married on 12/12 and while we got married off-site our group of 30 did all stay at the Sheraton. I thought it was amazing and everyone of our guests thought so as well. I am very particular and choosing our hotel was really hard for me. After a month of researching I had narrowed it down to the Sheraton, Dreams, Casa del Mar and Marquis. After being there and seeing these other resorts I am SOOO glad we decided on the Sheraton. It was my absolutely my favorite of these! The hotel and grounds are just beautiful, the food was incredible and the service is top notch. What I loved about it that is very different from the other resorts is that it's set way back off of the main road. Most of the other hotels are right on this. It's in the Casa del Mar master planned community so there are million dollar homes around it, 2 golf courses, cobblestone streets and the entrance is very exclusive feeling. It feels like it's own little city. There are a few vendors on the beach during the day. They are very polite and do wear white, so it does look like they have a uniform on. I agree that they add to the charm of it all and they are gone by 5:00pm or so. There are 4 vendor carts on the lower terrace on the way towards the Palapa Bar. They close up around 5:00pm as well. I have a pic of that area with them closed up if you'd like to see it - just PM me your email address. I promise you that you won't be disappointed with the Sheraton at all. I have pics of it that I can show you too.

Hey Kristen! Thank you so much for your post. I had never heard this about the Sheraton before and totally freaked me out when this post got started. From every picture I have ever seen the grounds have been gorgeous. Would you do me a favor though and send me some pics of the Palapa area that you have. I have not done a site visit yet and just want to see how its all set up and how you get to it etc.

Thank you so much in advance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
