Anyone order bridesmaid dresses online vs. in a bridal store?

Hi ladies,

 

The store that carries the bridal line I'm interested in doesn't carry the bridesmaid brand that I'd like to order my BM dresses from. There are many online shops that sell the brand I want, but I've read that the colors can be different and that some of the online sources for bridesmaid dresses aren't as dependable as ordering from a bridal store.

 

Has anyone had a good or bad experience ordering BM dresses online? I would love some input!

I had 3 bridesmaids... 2 of them ordered their dresses at the same time from our local bridal store. The bridal store had warned me that colors could vary if we didn't order all the dresses together - however at the time it wasn't possible and I didn't want to wait any longer.

 

In the long run my third bridesmaid ended up ordering hers online through houseofbrides.com as it ended up being way cheaper than ordering it from her bridal store in Canada. She had no problems with ordering the dress and the shipping was on time.

 

When we compared the dresses from online and the store... the color ended up being identical. There were no problems with the dress. Here is a pic of the 3 dresses together in 2 different lights...

3 of my BM dresses were bought at Davids bridal on sale when the girls took a trip in there. My MOH dress we actually found at Dillards on sale for $20

Thanks ladies - seems like the world won't end if my bridesmaids order online! I guess if all of them order online from the same place, then the colors should match!

Depending on the company, you may want to try to contact them and ask them if they'll send you fabric swatches. A lot of places will do that so you know exactly what colour you'd get.

Also check their return policy in case you or the girls, or both absolutely end up hating them.

I ordered my bridesmaid dresses online through House of Brides. We had a really good experience with them, we ordered all of the dresses together and the colours were all the same and they came exactly as we had ordered them. We ordered Dessy 2721 in Rose with a Carnation sash. Some of the girls have to make some slight alterations in the bust and length, but other than that they are great! I do believe that they were non-refundable though.
