Are kids coming to your destination wedding?

Recommended Posts

I may do this as well, but playing it by ear to see who is actually bringing their kids. If there are only a few, I won't make a thing of it but I don't want to bust my budget paying for people's kids at the reception.

I'm also considering coordinating among our guests bringing kids to bring an extra person on the trip to be a babysitter. I've thrown the idea out there and most of the parently would gladly split the cost of one person's trip to have an option for some adult time during the trip!

This may sound a little harsh... children are invited to the DW, but we requested the wedding day to be for adults 16+ only. Our resort has a kids' club & childcare

@@beckys98 - Yeah, our biggest reason for doing this is $$ - we are already paying for 40 extra dinners, drinks, chairs, etc... I can't get myself to pay an extra $10-12/kid...I mean, they can't appreciate it the same way. Call me cheap, I'm ok with it ;)

I don't think it`s harsh, if there is a kids club and childcare they have options and they will probably enjoy some time alone.

Thankfully under 12 was free at our resort for the wedding. The kids over are older teenagers so no worries.

The young kids are mainly mine so I can't so that. But we do have a kids club and may use it one or two days :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I have two children they will be 16 and 12 when I have my wedding however many guest will also be able to bring their children if they wish most resorts do not charge as they would for adults when it comes to the reception. I honestly have no issue with adult only vacations but I can not imagine not bring my kids or allowing others to bring theirs.

We specifically sought out adults only resorts. Partly because we don't have kids and want people to celebrate and have a good time without having to worry about their little ones! No one can completely relax if they are on watch. We thought this would deter people from going (which we wouldn't have minded as this would keep guest list down) but as it turns out, most couples are excited to have a reason to leave their kids at home! Guess many parents are in need of a break and some adult time!

We will not be inviting them and discouraging parent friends bringing them along. Ideally, we would like a adults only resort.

I just think it distracts from the vacation aspect and partying.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
