Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

Awww thanks Danielle... it's really awesome to help you girls out in any way that I can. Since I was the only BN bride here ... I was just beyond frustrated when I was planning all this as there was no bouncing off ideas or pictures to assure me things would be fine. I promised that I wouldn't let another BN girl go nuts like me. But I worked through it like a champ and had a damn near amazing wedding.. minus the hurricane.. but I guess that makes it pretty darn special in its down right... WHO else is crazy enough to ride down on a luggage trolley... OOOO ME!!!!!

Now Jay on the hand .. thinks I am completely insane for still coming on like I do... But I can't help it... Gotta help out my girls!!!!! Once the next girl happens... I will pass the torch to her ... Let her be in all her brand-new-ness glory!!

Hey! I am new to this so I may not be doing it right. ha ha. But I was so excited to see all of the information given here about your wedding at Beaches in Negril. I have learned so much from reading here. I have a question and it may sound crazy, but did a doctor from Jamaica come to the hotel to take your blood in order to get married? This freaks me out. We were thinking about getting married in the Bahamas and that is what they did there.

Amber you are sooo welcome and congrats again!! I just sent you a note and then came here and realized you already left a comment. LOL.....

Your question is not crazy at all.... Actually... no need for blood in Jamaica. Only things you need are your Birth Certs and Divorce decree if you had been married before along with the rest of the stuff in the wedding packet. Jamaica is super easy to get married at. One of the reasons we picked was you don't need the blood and only need to be in the country for 72 Business hrs before your wedding to become a "resident". Very simple steps for having the wedding of your dreams.

That makes me feel better. ha ha. Hunter will be glad to hear that too. I love the gazebo (I guess that is what it is called) where you got married. That's where I am planning on having our wedding. I am really confused about picking the flowers. Do you do that once you get there a few days before the wedding?

Yes you can wait and see what you want to do about flowers till you get there. AND I totally missed this in the last post you asked about ... SORRY!!! Unless you have something in mind that you absolutely love ... I would email them to Amber (Miami WC) so that she can pass on the info to Nikki and Andrea in Jamaica and then let Tia Flora know what you want and they can order the items. You will meet with Nikki or Andrea the day after you arrive. You will have a "Wedding" book in your room when you arrive that will have papers to fill out and areas for picking your final selections to things and you bring that with you when you meet with them. As you asked in the pics thread... my flowers were just luck ... I didn't want at home flowers for my wedding ... this is a tropical place and I wanted real "local" tropical flowers and they had none of this in the books or in pictures she showed me. Andrea called them and we spoke over the phone on what colors I wanted and what matched .. and then possible flowers they would use. Jay just wanted me happy as I could be ... so whatever I wanted.. he was going to make sure I got. I had no idea what I was going to get for flowers till 10 minutes before the wedding when my bouquet arrived at my door. The Flowers on the gazebo ... when I was walking down the isle. I was worried as heck with not knowing anything at all ... BUT by far.. was doing what they said ... NO Worries Mon!! They handled everything so perfectly .... I couldn't have asked for anything more ... really .. we had a hurricane ... a sobbing bride ... and luggage trolley as my main entrance.. EVERYTHING was out the window... BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!

Hello All!

I am getting married on September 30, 2009! We have 23 people coming right now & a few more are hopefully going to make it. We picked Beaches because I wanted my nieces & nephews to be able to attend.

I have been working with Amber (Miami WC) & she has been very helpful, but I am so glad I found this post! I have so many questions!

I chose the PB "Sunset" package because I loved the flowers & I have always wanted to get married on the beach at sunset and of course this was the only way to do it. Has anyone actually seen a wedding with this package while you were there? I am also trying to decide what to do about the reception. We were thinking of doing the $50pp dinner & then having the DJ play for 2 or 3 hours on the beach for some dancing. We will have 3 tables on the beach all decorated in the same PB collection ($500 each) for dinner. We are getting married on a Wednesday, so the free beach party is out (dang it!).

Also, the grooms parents would like to do something besides a traditional dinner (since we are at an AI) so I was thinking of the sunset boat tour or a snorkeling trip. Any advice?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much and congratulations to everyone on their upcoming wedding or blissful married life!

Sherri

I booked the Preston Bailey "sunset" package right away because they only do 1 ceremony per day because it is held only at sunset. There was already 1 booked for earlier in the week when I chose my date. I had to put a deposit down, which was half the cost of the package ($1800), & then the rest is due 45 days out. It is refundable up to the 45 days out. At 45 days you also have to pay for the guests tables to be decorated if you choose that option.

The dinner must be booked 2 months out, but the actual # of guests doesn't have to be turned in until 72 hours out. I think they said that I have to pick my menu items then as well. There is a lower price for kids ($25 I think) & you can have a kid friendly menu if they are picky eaters.

If you are set on having the wedding a specific day/time I would recommend booking it as soon as you can just so you don't have the headache later of changing dates. I asked our travel agent to research cheap flights & accomodations for our guests and then chose the date based on reasonable costs.

Hey Amber,

I would def get all the basic stuff out of the way immediately. Once you have confirmation of your time and date ... everything else can come along without a problem in booking the other things you may need. What did you have in mind that you are huh.gif... let me know I am sure I should be able to help you out some way or another.

Hey Sherri,

CONGRATS on becoming a Beaches Bride!!! You will love it and the kiddos will think you are the worlds best Auntie!!! I know I am for choosing Beaches.. they still tell me how cool it was. I have seen the package you purchased and it is beautiful.. they are very large pieces.

I just wanted to let you know ... Dinner and such things actually CAN be done when you arrive... and even your items can be all paid for when you arrive to Jamaica so everything is on one bill... Miami can tend to pressure you for the sale..... But, you do not need to book the private dinners and such before you leave with Amber (Miami WC). You can make things lastminute and book when you get to Jamaica with Nikki and Andrea as you meet with them the day after you arrive and more than enough time to plan everything before the wedding date. We made no real plans (which was planned) for anything and did it all when we arrived. We had the choice of whatever we wanted and this even included if we wanted a PB package... we ended up with the private cocktail hr and just moved over into the buffet with a reservation that we scheduled with Andrea. They redecorated everything from the cocktail hr to our dinner and we were off to the side from everyone else..private and free to boot. If budget is not a problem ... then booking and spending extras on the Private Dinners and PB packages now are fine. They have several locations for the dinners .. on the beach by the main pool and stage ... under one of the Tiki Huts, and then more scattered on the interior grounds through out the resort. It def looks like you know what you want and more than half way there in making your day perfect.

Yes, you can wait till you get on property however please keep in mind that if you have very specific things in mind, if you wait you may not be able to get them.

Specifically -flowers, Preston Bailey packages, locations ( based on whether you wanted a private reception-those that pre book will tend to have certain areas already put aside- note that we can not pre book locations), menus items, colors for bows & decorations ect.

I highly encourage the brides who have a vision and certain items that are must haves to pre book! However if you are a go with the flow, rather not plan anything till you get there and are ok with certain aspects of the wedding being a bit different that what you imagine then by all means wait!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
