I tried the ss card route, but the dl place said it didn't matter. They will only accept a county issued ml no matter what other things I have changed my name on. They said that without a county issued ml they will not change my name on my dl - period. I am now working with the district attorney's office to find a law (or at least a reason) that states you must have a county issued ml to change your name. So far they haven't found anything.

Our wedding is at 10 a.m. so we aren't doing any type of reception or anything. I think we are going to bring all of our guests to Rick's Cafe the night of our wedding. That is where my fiance' and I went in January 09' right after he proposed to me. I think it would be cute :) Anyway good luck and have fun with the planning!
Hi Dani,

I am a future Beaches bride, Feb6th 2010 and we have been going back and forth on the flowers. We are not using Preson Bailey or Martha Stuewart and will save a ton of money. Its a challenge since its all over phone and email but I get the feeling that they dont tell you all your options. How is your planning coming along?

Also I was told that with the Dj, they send you lists of songs and you pick what you want and get anything that you want that they dont have (much like a wedding at home)...

Its confusing I feel like I am being a pain buy asking them questions but its OUR day, right?

We will cross paths, we are at Beaches until the 8th :)

DJ Info

For the ceremony they have a a couple of music options you can choose from or you can bring your own CD & they will plaly it. Make sure you put the music in the order you want it played & as well as written instructions on when you want each song to start, end, play through, etc..

For the reception email your list of must play songs (1st dance, father/daughter, garter, etc.) to Amber in advance so the DJ can download the songs if needed. The DJ has a HUGE selection of music from old hip hop like Snoop Dog to brand new country songs. They are very prepared for a variety of tastes.

As for the flowers make sure you get price quotes in writing & then take them with you! The flowers are very expensive & you have to do a lot of bartering. I refused to pay $50 for my bridesmaid flowers (which were just 1 stem of small orchids), but unfortunately I hadn't printed the price quote of $30 from my email & so ended up paying $40.

Let me know if you have any questions I can answer! One piece of advice I can give you is to not stress over things. The resort staff really do know what they are doing & are very nice and easy to work with. My wedding was wonderful & everything went very smooth. Best wishes to you!

Your photographs are really beautiful Sherri,

It gives me a lot of hope that my wedding will be just as nice.

Did you do the preston bailey sunset collection or did you choose your own flowers? I know that its Martha Stewart now but your colors were really beautiful and striking.

Were there people surrounding you on the beach during your ceremony?

My main problem now is that both Beaches Negril and Sandy bay are sold out for most of their rooms on the days around my wedding date and my guests have to book elsewhere now, but Beaches charges people to come in. It's not their fault that there are no rooms, I just am not sure what to do now.

Finally, I am bringing in my photographer from Minnesota. He is fantastic and he only charged me for the cost of travel and board and $200 for supplies!!. If anyone wants to use him in January (he says he may be there for another week or so after the wedding), let me know.

You can email me for his info.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
