Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Amanda!

I am looking at Beaches Negril for my upcoming wedding this May. I was wondering if you could tell me how the resort is overall, is it very romantic & elegant? Some of our guests will have kids so we cannot go to a couples only resort. We are ok with the resort being kid friendly, but I am a little concerned after seeing the pictures of sesame street characters. Im just wondering to what extent they are geared towards children. We are going to spend our honeymoon there as well so we just want to make the right choice. Any advice you can give is much appreciated,

PS: Im new to this message board so I hope I'm doing this correctly

Thanks!

Hey Krissy,

Your post is fine and that is exactly what this thread is for.. asking questions!!

Personally I loved the resort a million times over the activities, and the sheer bustle of everything going on ... in no way could you ever be bored. Yes, it is super kid friendly and Sesame Street is present, but you can have alot of adult time too it all depends on how you want to make your stay. Certain parts of the beach I noticed only adults were around on the western side.. and most of the little ones wanted to be at the water park more so than the actual ocean. The swim up bar and bandstand area was always heavily populated with adults.. (maybe this is why they have 2 pools/2 swimup bars) because this makes sense. The club at night was great.. dinner at night can be adult only too, since they have a formal adults only restuarant.. plus with all the tours/exursions.. you can do just about whatever you want. the resort somewhat splits... left is adult things... right is where all the kids are and where kids camp and is located.

How many days are you spending in Jamaica?? Maybe a thought is to stay at Beaches for your wedding and then transfer to your HM with Sandals Negril. You can have a really smooth transfer to Sandals and I think you can include your whole time to actually take advantage of some of the great deals.. Like the free wedding package with 6 nights and those types of things. Changing resorts for this even just for 3 days is very popular. I also did this. We were at Beaches for 5 days Wed - Mon (all our guests left on monday too) and we actually moved right next door to Couples Swept Away for another 5 days (Mon - Sat)... We also have our 6 yr old son .. so having some real HM time was in order if you know what I mean.. LOL...

Hope this helps Krissy!!

Hi Nancy. Try going to "Edit Avatars" in your profile. You should be able to upload a pic there and it will show under your user name. It took me a while too to figure this out!

I'm so glad you mentioned the sesame street characters LOL. We are planning a wedding at Beaches Negril next May and we are wondering the same thing....ours kids are older like preteen and they won't be happy if it is geared for really little kids and if the whole resort is kinda too childish. I don't think it is but the sesame pics really scare me into thinking that my kids are gonna be like"....ooookkkkk you won't catch me dead in any of those pools if cookie monster is gonna come see me" LOL I don't think it will be like that but it would be nice to have some reassurance cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Thanks

Hey Maisy!

For the older kids they have the XBOX 360 room.... and activities such as volleyball, mini golf, Pool tables through out the resort and all of the items over at the sports complex. Kids of all age ranges were pretty much everywhere mingling together on the water slides... the swim up bar/pools. It all depends on the day ... but the older kids can get involved with the adult nightly items.. the beach party which is on a Thursday Night ... noticed the younger ones were gone from the beach by 9 but the party kept going till about 11:30. They had kid and adult dance contests and limbo for both.

To ease up some of the OMG Cookie Monster is Following me... You actually don't see them at all execpt at the Character breakfasts, The Seseme Street Show (which is 2 times during the week at night after dinner in the theater) and the actual activities you pick out for child to do at Kids camp.. (Noah had a dance party with Zoey, made Pizza with Elmo, and Wizard Wands with Grover... it's all age approp for a 6 yr old.. everything is broken up into age brackets) and if it's someones birthday and they are having it at The Mill (Buffet).. they might come mingling by.

Hope this helps!

Hi ladies! I'm hopeing to suck your brains from your experience, haha!

Beaches, Negril is our top choice right now. We have a group of about 25 coming with us and only one person under 18. FI's sister will be 16, but very mature. Do you think Beaches will be an okay fit? There won't be any need of kid's camp or anything, since she's really very mature. Also, any helpful hints, tips, or tricks? Anything you wished you nwould have known before, or done?

You guys are awesome, I love BDW!

Hey Katelyn,

I think if you are looking for a fun family/group expierence at any age with the amount of people you will be having you will be totally fine. Yes, I do think Beaches is a kids resort, BUT at the same time... we saw many many people older and younger with no kids in tow. The resort is large and they have more than enough to do at any age. The resort is broken up pretty well with the layout to have all kids stuff in one section. Across the street with the sports complex... again endless possabilities too. Maybe they were attending weddings or family reunions and such but they looked to be having a great time.

In most cases you have 2 choices - Family/Group vacations and Couple/Romantic vacations. Beaches/Sandals is a big name in travel and some people are just comfortable going with something they see on TV and in print all the time.

I wouldn't reget going to Beaches at all ... it like in prob every post above was amazing! LOL

Yay! I am now a Beaches Negril Bride! I just made the decision to switch from Sandals Montego Bay. Now I will spend 3 nights at Beaches Negril and 3 nights at Sandals Ocho Rios. SO EXCITED!!

So I was wondering if there is anyway around the "no reservations" thing at the restaurants or if its possible to just take my wedding guests there for dinner. I think I am opting for the $15pp reception b/c I just can't bring myself to pay more for food when this is an all-inclusive! SO, what do you all think...Can I take about 13 people to one of the restaurants and still have a decent time?

Hey Ash!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

Oh this def can be done We had 13 people in total for our guests. all depends on which restaurant you are thinking of ... We only made a reservation for The Mill was because we wanted to have full seating prepared for our dinner. Also learned when speaking with Andrea and Nikki at my consultation that by having the "reservation" this makes sure on you being able to pick exactly where you want your seating in the restaurant. You won't have more than a 10 minute wait for seating in the Mill at high times. But, they do spread people out through the area to have an open feel as possible as it is open air seating. The Japanese Restaurant you WILL need a reservation for.. Sandals Negril and Beaches Sandy Bay guests can visit this restaurant since only open in the evening and type (I think) in the Negril properties it is booked all the time.

You will not be disappointed on choosing the 15pp either... it actually works out nice... just enough and a nice small extension to the ceremony. My guests thought it was perfect.

Ooooo Ash, what day is your weddinghuh.gif Because certain days have themed events which they close some of the restaurants .. but in a sense you could make it memorable by having your dinner on the beach with candlelight and Tiki torches.. for NOTHING!! YAY! This happened for 2 brides during the time I was there .. they just offered it up to them as an option.. it was beautiful too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
