We haven't really given a ton of thought to the menu yet. When I did my site visit and got the lists of options I kept thinking everthing sounded so stange to me. Where is the simple surf and turf option with a baked potato? I know I need to think out side the box but I guess that is why I haven't picked anything yet. Does anyone know if they serve some of the same options at any of the resturants at the resort? Or has anyone done a tasting that helped them make a decision.

I sent Emeline an email Friday afternoon to see what colors of table linens are available for me to pick from so that I could start to firm up some of my colors/decor options. I also asked her to check on some dates in Feb for us to go back and finalize all the details. I haven't heard anything yet but will let you know what she says.

Hi Kashmira,

We are actually doing the Mexican Buffet for our dinner. We love mexican food knew we wanted this no matter where we got married. We have gone to Cabo the past two years with my company and have the Mexican Buffet each time. It was super good and much to choose from!!! I have always wanted plated but with Buffet people have options and can have seconds of whatever.

We will have tray passed hors d'oeuvres at our cocktail reception which is on the sand.

We are also having our "Welcome Reception" at the Hilton the night before the wedding. We are having it at the Blue Marlin Terrace and we will serve cocktails and the "Golf" package which is under their Canapes & Hors d'oeuvres menu which includes:

Cocktail suasage in puff pastry

Meat ball in BBQ sauce

Chicken Wings (in place of fried won ton)

Mini Ham & cheese quesadillas

Mini potato croquets

Mini hamburgers (in place of stuffed vegetable tempura gondolas)

Mini Pizza

We are not having a rehersal dinner and instead we are having a welcome reception for everyone.

We will have a slideshow at the welcome reception too! So our guests will know it is not a full dinner...we worded it "sip, munch & mingle"

Kristi - that sounds great!

Sarah - Here's the colors they have for their linens according to Emeline:

"For your information we have different color linens such as : orange, red,

brown, yellow, blue, silver, gold, black."

I think MariaElena used the "gold" ones which are sort of yellow=y

Sarah,

They do not have the color linen I would like so I have to order from someone else or bring my own...or change my color!!

I want an olive green color...I saw it in a magazine from another cabo wedding...I'll try and scan it cause I love everything about it!!

I am having square tables or one long one (depending on # of people) so I only need colored runners so my mom might make them.

I was thinking of doing the same. Our colors are orange and pink. I wanted bright pink for the tables but it doesn't look like that is available. When I was at IKEA the other night I found these really pretty sheer drape pannels that I thought could work as a table runner. They were the perfect color of pink. Maybe I will use the orange chair accents with the white chairs and then use the pink on the table. The flowers could be both colors to tie everything together.

I think we're going to go with the Caribean Menu ($45/pp) and then add a pasta station for an additional $8/per person. I want to cut out the two desserts and I'm hoping that cuts a few dollars off the price. This is what it looks like. We MAY change one of themeat dishes to a vegetarian option (a good amount of vegetarians invited/coming...)

CARIBBEAN COOK OUT BUFFET

SALADS
Artichoke salad with blue cheese, leaf lettuce and dressings
Tomato and avocado salad, tropical fruit with tequila
Pico de gallo (jicama, orange and carrot)
Bell pepper salad, beet salad, spinach salad
(** I can't tell is this is 3 different salads of one salad that has all three)

HOT ITEMS
Spicy beef turnovers (**We may substitute a VEG item here if I can find one)
Caribbean style pork loin with bananas and sweet and sour sauce
Chicken brochette with pineapple
Seafood casserole
Tostones (**Means flattened/fried plantains)
Rice with black beans
Fried sweet potatoes

PASTRIES
Coconut cake (**I want to cut this out since there'll be cake)
Kalhua custard (**I want to cut this out since there'll be cake)
Exotic fruit cocktail

US $45.00 per person

ADD:
Pasta station: Chef preparing 3 types of pasta to order
US $ 8.00 P / person (PLus $60 set-up charge for the station)

What are you guys doing? Kristi - How was the food when you were there?
Kash,

Meat/protein costs a premium, so if you sub in some veggie options, I'd try to negotiate the price down a little! Can't hurt to ask?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
