My OOT Bags~ the big hits and the things that weren't used

Did anyone have a problem with bringing your bags and items to fill it thru customs? I thought a girl wrote customs charged them alot of money accusing them of trying to sell the items in mexico and charged them a vendor fee. ??

FI suggested playboy mag and they'd be smiling the whole vacation.. I shook my head to that one.

good luck
Thank you so much for the ideas! I never thought about jewelry kits or sparkle nail polish! That is great. My family has 4 girls (9, 13, 15, 16) and 2 boys (both 14) who will be coming so these are great ideas!

Thank you very much!

Afrommert - I haven't had to get all my things into mexico yet, but I've heard a few recommendations to keep your receipts for the things you're bringing down and also a copy of all your bookings and reservations with the resort showing them that you're entering the country for a wedding. If you can keep an itemized list of everything that you have and how many, I'm sure it will help!! Hopefully some of the brides who have been down recently can comment further for you!

I don't think its pushy at all. Just look at it this way, its a "free gift" filled with goodies, so technically & no one is going to actually complain to you about it. Secondly, its your wedding. Not to sound selfish or self-centered, but if there's anything at all that I learned its that you should do what you want. If you want to give out personalized bags then go for it.
Everyone who received one was just happy to have the bag in the first place, especially those that didn't remember to bring beach bags.

Also, many of my friends reused the bag as a beach bag on their personal vacations. If anything they can just turn the logo on the other side so that the plain back of the bag is showing as opposed to our monogram. But really, knowing my friends, its not that serious & they didn't mind it having our monogram.

I did not even think of doing an OOT bag before I came to this forum (did not even know it existed actually). Then after reading stuff on here I wanted to put EVERYTHING in it. LOL Thanks to this thread, I've now cut down a lot to keep only the most essential and used things. Very good since I'M on a tight budget.

Thanks to everyone who contributed!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
