My OOT Bags~ the big hits and the things that weren't used

Recommended Posts

I got my guests the following:

Tumblers

Oh shit kits (Advil, pepto, tums, emergen c, band aids, nail file, hand sanitizer, and mentos)

Tumblers and Meds were all used and people asked for more. Bandaids were used. Can't say forsure about the sanitizer or nail files.

I got my girls beach bags and all of them were used. They were larger ones that also could hold towels. Hind site I would have gotten each room one.

I also got fans for the ceremony chairs. Unsure if they were used, as the ceremony is a blur but we didn't have any in the wedding office the next day when we picked up our stuff.

Not an oot, but maracas were a HIT.

@@JenniferH114 - those bags are SO cute! I think I'm going to return the ones I purchased on Amazon and get some from here instead!!!  THANKS! :D

@@calgarybride2015 - thanks for the tips.  I purchased beach totes for everyone so I'm hoping they'll be used and am doing a OSK as well.  I was on the fence about luggage tags but am thinking maybe I will whip some up from the sound of things!  THANKS!

  • 2 weeks later...

Great thread! I've been buying products every time I find a sale. I was going to buy the advil tubes for $2 a piece, but then I found a coupon online for $3 off advil.. So i've been buying the 24 packs of advil ($4.79 at No Frills grocery store) with the $3 off coupon and getting them for less than two dollars!

I'm still waiting to decide if i'm going to buy the blank bags and do iron on transfer, or if i'm going to wait for weddingchicks to have their tote bag sale this year.

I really wanted to bring tumblers, but they would be a bit much to pack

I say if you don't wanna pack the tumblers do a nice beach bag if that's in your budget. I got my bridesmaids each one on sale at la vien rose for $3.99 each. I didn't think they'd get used and I saw them each day. Everyone loved them and that they could spot us based on our bags. Hindsite I would have gotten every room a bag :)

@ - you should check Amazon.  I kept trying to find sales on the individual travel tubes but ended up getting boxes of individual packets of Advil, Alka Seltzer, Dramamine (we are doing a catamaran cruise the day after the wedding) etc. on their for 60 people.  Each purchase was roughly $70 or less.

I ended up designing my own transfer and buying bags from cheap totes . We just ironed them on yesterday and they turned out fairly good all things considered . Yes the wedding chicks one was nicer but it ended up being like 1.50$ vs 3.25$

Saw these on the B&BW website today...they would be really cute in the OOT bags, they names are based on love.  My guess is that they are fore valentine's day.

I got my bags from wedding chicks. They have almost like a Groupon deal type of thing on this website called Gilt.com and I got two gift certifies off there it was $150 for a $300 gift card so half price. I have seen them do this several times. I have also seen ones for Wedding Paper Divas right after we ordered our invites .. It was a major bummer haha. The site always has new deals but the host wedding brands often.

disposable cameras is a good idea! i think underwater cameras would be good if people were gonig on a snorkeling excursion

Any good finds on the underwater cameras?

This thread is so long, but so useful! One day ill,get through them all.

Does any past brides regret doing the door hangers? Seems like a lot of work for something that will never be used again. Ive considered making them..but still undecided.

I found them really pretty cheap on Etsy. I'm not having a huge wedding but we have about 40 people and I paid 6 dollars per dozen there are tons of choices. For that price I think its worth it than spending all the time making them.

So the real question, I am about 18 days from leaving and going crazy on how all of my bags and 21 bubba mugs will fit inside my luggage. Ha, how many bags(luggage) do you all plan on bringing with you. I don't have the time, and family near by to have a pre -party to hand them out at. :P which probably would have been the ideal situation. Thinking I well pre check bags to save on that before I hit the airport.

How was your wedding? I'm worried I have 35 bubba kegs. Did customs stop you? How many bags did you end up taking? I would love to hear these details ... I'm really nervous about having so much stuff.

I had 48 tumblers and didn't get checked. I had 11 bags and my dress. The customs is a 50-50 gamble in Mexico. The recent brides on here who did her the red light and had a check said they were out in 3-5 mins. Have your receipts on you.

We checked 4 bags and 2 of them were OOT bags.  we had lots of stuff, plus I assembled at home, which is less efficient packing wise (I didn't nest my cups) but way easer for a quick hand out when we got to hotel.   I also tied red ribbons on the ones for couples (2 cups) and blue ribbon for the single (1 cup) bags.   I think the cups and the bags themselves were the most used. The drugs (pepto, advil, tums) and first aid kit were close second.  the tide white sticks were also used allot.  I saw allot of door hangers, and room key holders too.  the playing cards were not really used, but we were blessed with good weather.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
