Now here's my problem: how do I get them to Jamaica?

What is everyone else doing to get their stuff to the resort? I looked into shipping, but it's a bit outrageous.

We are using two huge suitcases to bring all of our stuff for the bags, decorations, etc.  My fiance has one that's old and he doesn't want back.  The other is a friend of the family that got new luggage, so he gave us his big suitcase and doesn't want it back.  So we are lucky - we only have to pay to check the bags on the way down.  I looked into shipping but thought it was outrageous as well.  I know another bride who just got married in Jamaica actually bought big bins and packed her stuff in 3 of those, taped them up, etc. and checked those and then just left them down there.  Hope this helps!!

I never thought about taking old suitcases & leaving them behind, but that's not a bad idea. I've seen some really cheap suitcases at Goodwill.

That is awesome!  I never would have thought about taking the bins.  Great idea!  Thanks!

I actually got all the stuff - Advil, Pepto, etc. - individually wrapped on Amazon.

Yeah, I noticed Amazon.com has great prices and selection.. sadly none of them will ship to us Canadians and amazon.ca doesn't have the same selection. I really like a suggestion posted on another thread - just make your own little envelopes!

there is another thread where brides say they got all their OOT stuff for cheap: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/80079/frugal-brides-found-a-new-website/270#post_1948313 I think I remember seeing Canadian sites as well. Good luck!

I just got back from my wedding, and while I should be unpacking, doing laundry or getting organized, I'm still in Jamaica mode and have resolved to do that stuff later - no problem, mon.

We had a pretty big group (almost 65 of us total), so our OOT bags were pretty simple. However, we got a lot of compliments on them and people found them really useful.

Our items:

  • Custom tumblers from Discount Mugs
  • Individually wrapped Ibuprofen and Pepto from Amazon
  • Mini hand sanitizers from Bath and Body Works (and went through Ebates to get some cash back on those)
  • Chapstick with SPF

Like I said, everyone loved them - especially the tumblers. I loved seeing people use them at the bar and in the restaurants. The bartenders had no problem filling them up instead of the tiny resort cups.

Hope this helps!

Congrats!! Thanks for the info....I've wondered if bartenders would have issues filling up the tumblers!

  • 2 weeks later...

We just got back from our wedding week in Cuba and our OOT Bags were a great hit.  We had a large group of 79 people and it was great to see everyone using the items.   Here are some pictures:

The feedback we received of peoples most favorite items:

1. The passport book that contained all in the information they needed for travelling

2. OOT bags were used as beach bags,

3. Luggage Tags

4. Key/Tip holders with laynards

5. Travel Mugs

6. Bridal Entourage shirts

and EVERYONE'S FAVORITE...my husband's most famous saying "Are You Fucking Kidding Me?"  which I had buttons made and EVERYONE wore it... it was the most common phrase used all week, including when he walked down the beach to the ceremony, everyone yelled it out!  It was too fuuny!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
