My OOT Bags~ the big hits and the things that weren't used

Recommended Posts

Our resort had drink/cocktail menus on each bar.  If you were to do this, maybe the best thing would be (if you're staying at an all-inclusive) to have the WP scan the drink menu from the resort and send it to you to include in your welcome brochure or something like that.  Just a thought...

Anyone tried this before?

The most used items in my oot bags were by far the drawstring backpacks we packed it all in and a badge holder on a carabiner to carry their ID and room key in. The anvil was much appreciated too. Oh my gosh, how could I forget!! THE MOST used item was the color changing cups with a palm tree, Jamaica and the year. Remember you can keep that logo generic enough that others on BDW will want to go in on fulfilling the minimum order.

I'm a former bartender and made my own list. if you want to PM me your email address, I can send it to you. actually, let me try posting it here to see if it works. I was planning to send it out as part of a laminated pre-departure brochure that people could bring with them to the resort.

these were all the potential RESORT drinks I could think of/find on the internet. I'd appreciate if anyone has suggestions or recipes for the other drinks listed (we can open another forum for this if needed). thanks!

WOW... I just spent two days at work reading all 75 pages of this thread and taking notes.. Let me first say, Thank You All Very Much!!Everyones ideas, comments and pictures have been a huge help!

My FI and I are planning our destination wedding for sometime between May and July of 2013. We haven't found a resort yet, but of course I am obsessing over these OOT bags.. I absolutely love doing all kinds of craft projects so I'm getting a huge head start on ideas. Plus I realize that our guests are spending time and money to see us get married, so I want to spend a lot of time and thought on our OOT bags to show our appreciation.

I havent decided if I am going to do totes with Welcome to "destination" and then the year underneath or if I want to find pink paper gift bags with orange tissue paper or vise versa. (But the totes seem to have been a huge hit for everyone but if we go with paper I think we could pack more items easily into our suitcases and afford more goodies for each bag)

Here's what I want to put in ours...

  • First Aid/Survival Kit
  1. Headache relief (will purchase large box with individual packets)
  2. Pepto / Tums
  3. Packages of Dental picks ($1 at $1 Tree for a large pack for each bag, great deal)
  4. Bandaids and Neosporin
  5. Gum or Altoids (Will purchase from Costco or Sams)
  6. Aloe ($1 Tree)
  7. Kleenex ($1 Tree has 8 for $1 or 9 pocket size for $1)
  8. Chapstick (def some with spf)
  9. Debating on Sunscreen (they have some at $1 tree, but I dont know how good the quality is)
  10. Shout Sticks or Wipes
  • Mini hand sanitizers (probably from BBWorks $1 each)
  • Waterproof silicone watches (found on ebay for 1.99 + free s&h in my colors, pink for girls/orange for guys)
  • Current Magazines or Suduku, Crosswords, etc from $1 Tree)
  • Waterproof camera's or regular disposible ones (haven't price checked yet, but love this idea)
  • Travel Mug ($1 Tree) with names or destination and date on them "my Cricut is going to be put to use :o)"
  • Welcome Booklet,"Meet the Guest" Pictures of each person and there name. Love this idea, now to find a way to put it together.
  • Waterproof bags for room cards and money. Was going to go to Coach's clearance section but the waterproof bags on Amazon seem better for the beach. (I read someone found some for 4.69 each+free s&h)
  • Welcome letter for each bag. (Printed on beachy themed paper and then signed by FI and I, unless I choose to handwrite them)

  • Thinking about doing kid bags for FI's little brothers and sisters and other kids joining us
  1. Cards (2 for $1 at $1 Tree)
  2. Sunglasses
  3. Swim Goggles
  4. Water Guns
  5. Floats (if allowed at the resort we choose)

  • Thinking of doing a Hangover kit
  1. Alka Seltzer
  2. Scope or Listerine Strips
  3. Crackers

Sorry, for the long post.

Is there a thread somewhere where people are posting their pictures on how they arranged their items in the totes, etc?

The only thing I have seen is ziplock baggies with a label printed on paper and folding and stapled across the top. Looks better than I'm probably making it sound. :-/

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
