Wording for - suggesting guests only come for a few days

Recommended Posts

The title probably doesn't make sense -

I wrote a post on my FI being concerned others would hijaock the entire time we are out there. (Lake Tahoe) Several of you mentioned that you had suggested your guests come Thursday through Sunday (I'm assuming a Saturday wedding) so as to make it abundantly clear that the new bride and groom would not be hanging out with the entire guest list while they are there for the whole week.

Did you do this in your STD's or something else?

Thanks

Jeni

I would word it like "Join us for a Wedding Weekend Celebration" July 16-19 or whatever.

You should include hotel info if you want everyone to stay where you are, or if there is a hotel next door or something where you prefer the guests to stay. If it is a smaller property it could sell out so you might want to go ahead and block the rooms and tell guests they need to book early.

It might help organize your guests (and yourselves) if you can have a few activities planned.

Thursday - guests arrive - casual cocktails at the hotel

Friday - Group activity (skiing, local tour, dinner, etc)

Saturday - Wedding

*Or switch Fri and Sat around*

Sunday - guests will depart - maybe do brunch for those that are leacing later.

I would keep it simple and in the STD pr newsletter, whatever your avenue of communicating, invite them to spend the weekend with you and FI for your wedding (ie Weekend Wedding Celebration) and give the basic logistics. Then follow-up with a few scheduled activities or suggested activities so they will have options

I don't know if people are booking themselves or using a travel agent, but we told our travel agent we wanted everyone gone by a certain day. If anyone was persisting on staying longer he was to tell us or offer time before the wedding.

I think the Weekend Wedding idea would work too. Also just talk up how excited you are to celebrate with everyone for the weekend and then have a private honeymoon to enjoy together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
