I walked past it when I was in Xcalacoco in December. It's just next to the Princess when you go toward Cancun walking on the Beach. It was still in construction, but it was getting close to the finish line. First thing you have to know, it's HUGE ! It took us like 10 minutes to walk from on end to the other. We were joking about people that would get a room on one end of the resort, and would have to go the other end for whatever reason. Like, shoot ! I forgot my jacket in the beachfront restaurant ! and there you go for 10 min wink.gif

When we were there there were some big sandbags (or ??) in the water, I think they are trying to build up a beach with sand in the water because the whole are is pretty rocky.

It's made of big buildings that are 3 stories high. Each appartment is built in such a way that they have a terrace facing the sea with open air - like, the terrace above you would be farther away, in the back, you can actually see it in the pics on their website.

Other than this, I don't know ! One thing, it's more 10-15 min away from Playa del Carmen than the announced 5 min on their site. It's still close, though.

We're heading to Grand Velas next week. After a disasterous attempt to pull off a Wedding at nearby Azul Fives, our TA moved us and our entire party over to Grand Velas. So far, the Wedding Coordinator has been so incredibly helpful, much unlike those at Karisma Resort (parent of Azul) and the pictures look amazing.

From what I understand it is so big because half is family and half is adults only so it is spread out to keep the adults only separate...that is what they say at least. :)

I am happy someone has seen it and it actually exists!
Hum !? I wonder how they do this. From the part I saw, beachfront (I understand there's a lot more in the back), the swimming pools and restaurants are all north, and there are a whole lot of room south that are super far from them. If you look at the pic that is on the welcome page on their site Puerto Vallarta Resort - Grand Velas All Suites & Spa Resort - Playa del Carmen Resort., you'll see what I mean... the south is on the left side of the pic... So not sure how they do the split... this makes me wonder ?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
