RIU Palace Brides?? I have Questions!!

Recommended Posts

Hey girls! So I'm really trying to decide between the Iberostar and the Riu right now. So I'm hoping people can help answer some questions for me to help me decide!!

1. If i have the wedding at the RIU Palace Mexico or Riviera Maya can I still rent out the disco at the Yucatan? Does the rental of the disco actually include a DJ? Does it include open bar?

2. Also, with having more than 27 people, you have to have the late dinner of 8:30? Did anyone ahve to do that and have it work out? I'm planning for a May wedding so I'm hoping I can do the wedding at like 5 so there is only like 2 hours between the end of pictures and the beginning of dinner...It just seems like a long time to wait!

3. I've heard of people setting up a DJ poolside and doing dancing and drinks that way...is this possible?

Any answers anyone could provide would be great!! Thanks!

I am getting married at the RPRM, but I don't have those answers off-hand because none apply to me. Go to the top of this page on this website and click Search, then type in RIU Palace Riviera Maya, then click Go and you will find so much info. I think some of the questions you are asking will definitely be there. Hope that helps!!!

FYI, we are getting married at the RPRM on the 7th, we only have 15 guests (17 including the bride and groom) and our dinner is at 8:45 -- I don't think it matters how many or how few guests you have. It may be that is the best time to provide a semi private area for your group.

Quick question...

I have been in contact with the RIU Palace in Mayan...they have told me that they will not provide me with available dates for our wedding that we would like to have in April 2010 until November 2009. This seems a little last minute to me...i would like to have my save the dates out by this May if possible as well as our actual invitations out by September.

Have any of you incurred this situation?? How far in advance were you able to get a date? I'm getting quite frustrated and thinking about seeking out other resorts to see if I have better luck.

Thanks for your help :-)

Hey Shanny,

First, congrats! This will be such a fun (stressful, but fun) time for you.

To answer your question, we started trying to book in November 2007 for 2009 wedding but had to wait until the new rates were released. I think we were finally able to book in March or April of 2008, which isn't so bad. I would suggest you just keep checking back and remember if you can't book a particular date neither can other brides -- which keeps your date safe for the time being! :o)

As for notifying your guests, we sent save the dates before we even booked our actual hotel. It just said something along the lines of please save the date, we're getting married in Mexico. This gave people plenty of time to save and plan for a big vacation.

Hope this helps, best of luck on your planning!

Katrina

That's what we are going to do too! We'll send out STD's that say Mexico - whatever week in January. Mostly so we don't have to pick the resort right away - next January is a long way away so we want to have a better idea of what people's situations are, prices, etc.

Also, we are getting married at city hall first - that way we'll have more leeway regarding the actual wedding date.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
