I was engaged 5 years ago, but 2 months before the wedding I called it off. I was young and it finally snapped in my head that I was not ready. I bought a dress and never used it. I think it is beautiful and it is still in NEW condition. I just never knew what to do with it. I thought about selling or giving it to someone who is getting married. Some of my cousins say my dress is bad luck now. I don't think it is. What do you girls think I should do with it?

You should try selling it on ebay or preownedweddingdress.com

I say if you love it (and your FI doesn't object) wear it! Think of all the money you'll be able to spend on something else.

Are you marring the same man that you canceled the first time? If so I say wear it, nothing wrong with admitting your not ready. However if it's a different guy,,, that would be much harder. I personally wouldn't want to marry a new man in my old dress I got for a previous relationship, but that's just me.

No it is not the same guy. I wish I could post a pic of it, but it is in Texas and I am in Virginia right now.

He actually does not mind, but it is strapless and I decided I don't want a strapless dress after all.

Well then Andrea if you don't want a strapless dress then don't wear it...I say sell it and get somethingelse.

Once you get a picture you can even try and posting it here on this site. http://bestdestinati....com/forum/f37/

I don't think it would be bad to wear the dress just because you bought it for a different wedding, if you wore it that would be one thing, but if you don't like the dress anymore, then its "the" dress for you and you should try to find something else. You should post it on ebay, thats actually where I found mine and its beautiful!

hmmm - personally I wouldn't wear a wedding dress I bought for a marriage to another man, even if the wedding didn't happen. That (to me) would be like Aaron giving me an engagement ring he bought for a previous girlfriend. When I buy my dress I want to picture Aaron seeing me in it the first time - I'm buying this dress for my special night with him. I dunno - I really wouldn't wear it, but that's just me and what I'd do.
