Starting to not look good :(

Laura what travel agent are you using. Try Bel Air travel thats who I went with. They had the cheapest rates, they also gave a group discount if you have more than 10 bookings and over 25 you get a trip free. PM if you need any help. Alot of travel companies try to rip you off, so shop around!

I dunno but it sounded pretty cool.
Those are the Paradisus Chains ~

The Paradisus Punta Cana in the DR - Which I absolutely fell in love with, too bad the flights from Chicago are pricier than to The RM otherwise we'd be at that hotel. Instead we chose the Paradisus Riviera Cancun - which also has the Royal Service.

But I can imagine that the flights from Canada is what's really killing you.

don't be discouraged, it may take some time but I'm sure you'll find a deal!

Let me know if I can help.

I'm really sorry that you are having to deal with this....I think most of have been through similar situations with our guests. We just finally decided between the two of us that a beach wedding is what we both wanted from the beginning, and sucked up the idea that people wouldn't come becuase it cost so much. It actually has turned out that more people are coming and turning it into a vacation for themselves. We also decided on an "off season" date to lower the costs for everyone as well.

I guess you need to decide if it is really important for you to have a destination wedding and not a local wedding just to please everyone else! This is your day! You shouldn't let anyone influence your planning.......

Just my opionion!!!

Good luck!

Laura, I'm sorry you have to deal with this. We have the same problem with a lot of our guests not wanting to spend the money, but this is what we want to do, its our wedding, and if its just the two of us, we don't care, we'll have a great time.

$2000 pp does seem kind of high. We had originally looked into a lot of the caribbean islands, antigua, st. lucia, etc. and they were all going to be too much for guests.

So we chose dreams cancun and part of the reason we chose it was the price was more reasonable, I want to say about 1200 pp, for 5 nights. I mean your flight may be slightly more because of where you're coming from, but 1200 is a lot less than 2000. When were you trying to plan for?

i think that yes, it's your day and you should have the wedding you want, but if you want people at your DW wedding, you should make an effort to make it affordable for them.

i know people say that those who love you will find a way, etc. etc. but realistically, some finances won't allow $2000pp no matter how far they try to stretch their dollars. making an effort to attend a wedding is one thing, breaking the bank to do it is another.

why don't you take into consideration other options, like not having everyone stay at one place, that way those who can't afford a 4 star option don't feel obligated. i gave my guest a choice of accommodations. i sent them std' packages with a newsletter that had a list of reccommended hotels in various price ranges as well a different packages they could book. they were able to choose what they could afford.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Booking at different hotels would not be an option since it would mostly be family coming. There are a lot of single people in my family so they all want to be together so they know someone there.

I love Dreams Cancun but from here were looking at around $2000pp. I guess its due to the flight. Im going to keep my fingers crossed that SOMEWHERE will be affordable and nice as well.

Thanks everyone for making me feel better :)

Laura, the resort I got married at is really good for people who are looking for something a bit cheaper...there are 4 different sides to the resort and 2 of them are a bit cheaper than the other 2, but it's all the same resort - does that make sense? LOL

It's absolutely beautiful and most of our guests (even the pickiest ones) said it's the nicest resort they've ever been to.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
