Calling all November 2009 Brides!

For those ladies who are getting legally married before going to the resort, how far in advance are you having the ceremony? What are you going to wear? What about the guests, I don't want to make it a big deal but will people be offended if they were not invited to the actual ceremony?

Is everyne planning a AHR? if you are, how long after the actual wedding until you have the AHR?

I have not picked a dress yet, My Matron of honor is 9 mo preggers right now and she is kind of grouchy :) So I will just ignore for a few months. I think we will just go with something from a store like Nordstroms, BCBG or J Crew. THere is only 2 of them.

We plan on having our AHR in February. We wanted everyone to get through the holidays first.

I am not getting legally married before I leave but after I get back, (FI and I want the first time we says vows to be in Mx), but I would try to keep it on the DL, many of your guests that booked trips may be insulted that you are already married.

I plan on just wear a regular dress.

I am not having an AHR, so no help there.

Thanks for your thoughts ladies! I think we will get married here before we go and just keep it a secret.

I agree with you megashay that I don't want to make a big deal of it because to us the real wedding is in Mexico, the hard part is our families understanding that.

If we have a AHR we have to have two, because my fiances family lives across the country, which complicates things and makes them a lot more expensive, having a AHR where we live and where they live. I do enjoy a good party though so who knows what I'll do...

We are planning on getting married before we go. I haven't really put much thought into it as we will consider our Mexico wedding the real wedding. As for the AHR, we aren't planning on having a formal event, probably a big BBQ the following summer. Something more laid back than a formal reception.

Hi ladies!!

I also also a November bride. We are getting married in Bermuda on 11/9/09. We are taking a cruise from NJ to Bermuda and getting married on the island. I haven't done much yet, but I did get my dress, decide on a location in Bermuda (Astwood Cove Park in case you were wondering) and get a photographer. I'm also working on gathering items for my OOT bags. As you can see, there is still a lot to do, so I am counting on great advice from all of you!!

Hi All - I too am a November, 09, 09 Bride! I don't have nearly as much done as some on this thread! (Gulp)

I have venue chosen and booked - Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana, DR with reception on the La Barcaza Yacht at sunset (yeah!)

I have a photographer booked, BM and GM chosen, wedding website up and running, invitations going out this week (didnt do STDs). I've also decided on the colours - tropical orange, with some accents of turquoise.

I don't have a dress yet, but I'm planning on choosing one very soon. My BM's are in the process of picking out thier dresses.

We are legally getting married in the DR. It's a bit more hassle, but I really want it to be the "real deal". We are having an AHR at Christmas time. We're actually doing a blessing ceremony in our church for our family and friends who can't come to DR, followed by a cocktail and dancing reception. I'm just excited that I get to wear my dress again!

I look forward to hearing more about everyone's plans as we get closer!

yeah we are getting legally married beforehand but haven't thought much about it - we will probably just wear jeans...we are just considering it paperwork and are not exchanging rings - our real wedding will be in Mexico so we are making the one here as simple, laid back, and easy as possible

I am just getting married there - a lot of paper work but we want it there then in January having an open house with food and drinks so everyone can see the pictures, video and get their gifts we bought them. With the weight restrictions these days we decided to forget about bringing stuff for guests and we ordered cookies with the invite attach to give everyone at the airport when we are boarding :) I am sure they'll love the cookie on the 4.5 hour plane ride.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
