Calling all November 2009 Brides!

Recommended Posts

We are doing the same thing -- the legal ceremony actually takes place tomorrow! I didn't want to deal with the headache of all the other paperwork. We are having a "bachelor party" tonight -- which will consist of me, him, our cat & a bottle of champagne!

We are having a friend perform the ceremony for us as well. I drafted an outline using the website below as a guideline. We aren't religious, so we are going to have some poetry readings -- you can find some good ones on the web as well. We are cutting a lot of items out -- no "giving in marriage" and no "unity ceremony".

This webpage was helpful b/c we could cut & edit the way we wanted and incorporate things that we like. I hope this helps!

OMG ladies remember my bm who didn't come to my shower... Well she told one of our mutual friends that she was not talking to me until November. I am soo pissed. How dare she say such a thing. She acts as if I did something wrong. She's the one who's not supporting me or my wedding at all. I mean it was so bad that I had to go pick up her gown when it came in buy her shoes then take all of it to Philly where she lives (I live in baltimore md) and I'm praying that she gets her alterations done bc she seems to have no desire to do so. I was really sitting here trying to think of what she's done for the wedding and the only thing is that she did was come down 1x and purchased her gown. That was ab it. So I sent her a rather harsh text this evening. Of course she didn't respond bc she never does. She hasn't even responded to the evite for the rehearsal dinner. She is pissing me off. On one hand I feel bad ab the text I sent but on the other hand I feel like she deserved it. I really don't feel like being stressed but it's impossible not too.

Keira, I'm totally with you on the " standard" ceremony. The only thing we may do is tweak the vows part just a little, but I'm not sure. I have to keep telling myself the reason we did this destination wedding was so it would be minimal planning, minimial stress. But all you ladies are so creative and ambitious that sometimes I feel pressured to keep up with everyone! Ha!

So, does anyone know what the "sand ceremony" is like? Maritee asked me if we were having one and I said I wasn't sure yet, but she didn't elaborate. Is it beach sand? Do we need to bring our own vases or something? Maritee is on vacation until Monday and of course I have like 15 questions piling up to ask her and bombard her with when she gets back!

Happy Planning, everyone! It is almost time! :)

Ashley, it sounds to me like she needed to hear/read that text. I dont understand why people act they way they do when it comes to weddings. Dont let her get to you. Sounds like you have done everything you can. She really needs to grown up. Hang in there!

Erika: Today is your surgery right? Thinking of you today! Sending a great speedy recovery vibes your way!

Cherie: I think usually you bring the kit as in the vases, sand, etc. You can always use beach sand to which makes it even more sentimental :)

We finished our menus and programs last night. WOOHOO! Im uploading pics this morning. The programs were a pain mostly due to our printer. Never buying an epson again! At least not one that you cant feed paper in from the back!

The stem makes me nervous, does anyone have any suggestions to make it strong. You cant remove it because it goes up through the shells.....

Also I wanted to use the bouquet frames but I dont think I can that with this now sad.gif

Ashley: I'd boot her from the wedding party. But, that's just me, I can't stand drama like that. And......how's Cujihuh.gif? I don't think I've seen an update since the vet trip. Is she settling in back at home?

Cherie: Your wedding will be perfect and if you chose a DW to avoid some of the additional details don't feel pressured to add them. It's going to be perfect, just enjoy the anticipation and don't stress :-)

Erika: Good luck in surgery today!

Melissa: Yay! Can't wait to see them. We got our travel letters out but haven't done the welcome letter and ceremony schedule yet so I'll be watching for yours for some ideas.

I'm starting to think about my planning thread. With less than 3 weeks until I leave the time seems to be crawling by at top speed...if that makes any sense??

I don't think I'm going to do the sand ceremony. I have seen some ceremponies have a hand ceremony in them and I don't think I'm going to do that either. What ever I have to cut out to get that ring on my finger faster I'm game to cut out. lol. I have waited 7 years (2 engaged) and I don't think I will be able to wait a minute more then I have to. hahaha.

Wow! It turned out really nice eh? I see what you're saying about the stem though. I wonder if there is an tubing, that you might be able to find at a hardware store, that could be placed around it to reinforce it. Then you could just wrap that with some ribbon.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
