I figured the amount for the DW wedding and paying for family, versus having a big local wedding would even out about the same. :) I really hard my heart set on a destination wedding from day one, I'm just so thankful we're able to get them all down there!

I was thrilled at the rate we got on our air travel, it's $250.00 per person round trip. I thought that was pretty good.

That's great Tracy! Good for you getting them all booked! We have gone the deadline route as well, but are still pretty unsure as to how it's going to work out. Our deadline to book is the 20th of May. Only 8 people (including us) have booked so far. An email reminder sounds like a great idea. My FI has been wanting to send out email reminders every other day. Perhaps now might be a good time. Thanks!

We did end up going there. Just today, my Mom drove up and we went dress shopping. We went to 3 stores. That was enough! It was a hoot! But exhausting! I have it narrowed down to 9. (LOL) I was surprised by how many fit me perfectly, apart from the length, that I had the option to purchase off the rack. That's great that you were able to find a perfect one off the rack AND get a good deal!! I think I'll have to go back a few times and retry everything!!

Hey NaM. Did you have to go directly through the hotel to have your rooms held until Oct, or did you guys put down a hefty deposit? I've never heard that it's an option to hold rooms that long.

Wow that's great!

My mom and I are flying down first three days prior, so we haven't booked our tickets because we couldn't get them in the group rate since our dates would not be the same. I keep watching and thus far we haven't been able to get a good deal on the two extra tickets we need. I'm hoping the prices will drop some as it gets closer.

If we were to pay the price they're giving now we'd be paying almost double what we're getting with the group rate.

We (my parents) had to pay for the bride (ME :)!) and grooms room in full up front. Then we could hold an indefinite amount of rooms for up to 30 days before the wedding. Guests have to put 1/2 the room down at booking and the remainder when they check in.
This is the Aventura Spa Palace btw.

Just so you guys know (haha)... there has now been blood added to the wedding planning... so I've got blood, sweat and tears all checked off!

 

But really, I am making my invites (125+!) and I am almost done! I can't wait to post them for you guys to check out and give me some feedback on. (To explain the blood -- I have these metal brads on my invites and I cut my fingers twice on them trying to pull the fasteners off).

 

I heart my November brides :)

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

      Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
