Wedding Time Freakout!!!

Recommended Posts

Wow, this is the second time I've seen a post on here in just 3-4 months from a bride having last minute issues with a RIU resort and the resort comes across as very unaccommodating.... Not a very good impression they're leaving right about now for those people still trying to choose a resort...

Toby, I hope Tammy can help pressure them to work with your wedding time so that you can get some beautiful photos without having to sacrifice seeing each other for the first time at the altar...

Our photogs got to my room around 2pm for getting ready shots. Around 3 we headed to the beach for some shots with the girls and shots of me alone.

around 3:30(I am guesstimating because time was a blur) we did our reveal moment and photos together. By 4 we headed back to the hotel to do some family shots. I was back in my room by 4:30ish for a 5 or 5:15 ceremony.

we had our photogs for 7-8 hours for the wedding day.

They have said they could give us an extra 15 minutes --- so we will take what we can. Basically the lady in charge of the time is based out of Cancun and she has decided that since we changed our times and dates (she originally booked us on Nov 2, 2007 which is Day of the Dead and she admitted after the fact we may not be able to get vendors and wouldn't recommend the date) before she wasn't willing to accomodate us again. The lady at Riu Cabo in charge of our wedding said they could move us up 15 minutes --- she seems more agreeable and accomodating. The Cancun lady said we couldn't have the basic ceremony for $700.00 because we are having a wedding party of 20 people instead of 10 --- once again the lady at Cabo Riu said they could do the cheaper package...grrr...my FI really wants Riu for its proximity to town, its AI and that it is more of a party place for our friends --- otherwise I would not put up with this...it will be amazing because I am marrying my best friend and even if Riu ends up being obnoxious...we will have to laugh about it and enjoy ourselves inspite of them...Juan Carlos is our photographer and he said we can work with it -- he is so great and so is Tammy (who is our TA) because they are both helping us every time our silly wedding location acts like a donkey..lol...thanks for the support girlies... :)

We scheduled our ceremony at 7pm on 07/07/07 since the sun shouldn't go down until after 8 and are now having the same issue. The hotel has another wedding that day and so we can not move the ceremony time up. We decided to see each other before the wedding (at the recommendation of our photographer) It isn't what i had wanted to do but in the end I am sure it will work out great! getting awesome pictures is the main thing - that is what I want the most!

Yeah I think from now on I won't deal with that lady anymore --- she is horrible. Her name is Diana Espino and I am not impressed with her at all. I understand that there are procedures and limitations but I think when you plan weddings that you should be of the mindset that this is a magical moment in someone's life and your main goal is too make it as amazing as possible. Thanks for your help and I will completely keep you posted of everything. :)

Diana is the girl I was e-mailing back and forth with about the Riu and she was very unresponsive to me. Her e-mails were very short and it took her days to respond. I removed the Riu from my site of interest because of her. I figured if she is this way trying to get someone to have a wedding there, I can't imagine when I actually book. And you have to pay for the wedding there. I am glad that I chose Dreams.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
