A simple wedding for just us 2 - ideas?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. We're slightly in the same boat as you are - with the idea of just the two of us. There are so many choices, especially at the resorts. Many have a free package and even though it may contain extras that you don't need all you have to do is inform them and they take away what you don't want and it's much cheaper. I know a lot of people that do this and it worked out well for them. There is also the option of doing a Mayan Symbolic wedding on a private beach. Please let me know if you need any links and/or references and I'll be happy to private message them to you.

Hi there,

We're looking at similar options, an intimate wedding at an AI. At the moment it's likely it'll just be us and my sister and her partner. It's a long way for friends/family to travel and we'd like to watch costs too. Good luck with your planning.

J :)

Thanks for everyone replied!

Yours Truly -- I have done some research and from what I could tell most resorts only offer "free" packages if you book at least 5 rooms or upgrade to a Honeymoon Suite. I am still looking for a resort that would be more flexible in their package contents/prices, so if you have any suggestions, let me know! I also contacted a TA, so I'm curious what they will find.

Sstotz -- that's a beautiful dress! Funny, I just got a dress from JCrew on their great sale (ends today, I believe), it's Sophia Long and it was $125 (now only $99!) Women's dresses - weddings & parties - Silk tricotine Sophia long dress - J.Crew

Great minds think alike :)

AprilandPatrick -- thanks for the info. I contacted Majestic Colonial in DR to ask if they can be flexible in their packages and make it cheaper if I don't need some of the stuff they include, but they said 'NO'. I guess it doesn't hurt to contact more resorts. I just thought they'd all be like that. Do you know of any specific ones that can cater to your needs?

And yes, please send me any info you have on symbolic ceremonies or anything else that you think might help out my situation. Thanks so much in advance!!

Jteam -- Congratulations! Do you know where you are going yet?

Thanks again everyone for your responses!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
