Moon Dance Cliffs

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies,

I hope that everyones planning is going great. As most of you know, I switched resorts from MDC to Iberostar Rose Hall Grand. My parents just got their refund back from MDC for the deposit...but they are still going there with a bunch of their friends after my wedding and staying in the 5 bedroom villa. Anyways, I am just posting because I found this sooo funny, I got an email from Kery yesterday below:

Hi Leslie,

Just touching base with you. I am a little busy right now with a constant flow of wedding. Just to let you know that I haven’t forgotten you.

HA! She is so out of the loop with everything she does not even know that my wedding has been canceled for over 3 weeks!

Claudette- I just noticed your wedding is right around the corner, how exciting! I can't wait to see your pictures. I am sure it's going to be amazing!!! We have the same colors and I was looking into doing your same BM dresses from Davids but in tangerine. Are you finished with all of your planning? What did you decide on for your rehearsal? :)

Hi Sparkles8300.. hope your planning is going well too. That is funny (and slightly scary!) about Kerry's response. I have to laugh and just realize that things will work out in the end as other brides have promised! It sounds like orange and pink are popular colors!! My colors are mango and magenta!

We booked our DJ (Sound Illusion) and a steel drum band yesterday. I'm going with the IPod for the wedding ceremony which Kerry said can be plugged into the DJ's speakers because they'll be setting up during the ceremony. That made me think.. do I need to pay the $200/ hr for DJ set up and breakdown?? I have an email into Kerry to clarify this.

Hi all! I'm getting married on May 29, 2010 at MDV, but I will have a lot of guests staying at MDC. I just spent a few hours reading all of your posts, and I have gone through so many emotions! I'm excited for everyone getting married, I have been nervous about the price changes at MDC, I was blown away by Sparkles' dad's photos of the resort. I'm feeling the jitters for Claudette since she'll be the first one on this thread to go through the wedding process at Moon Dance. I'm very excited for all of you and can't wait to hear the details as everything happens. The Villas use the same vendors as the Cliffs, so this thread has been very helpful.

Sparkles - I want to ask if you or your dad mind if I use some of his photos of MDC for my wedding website. I want to build a page that has info on both of my resorts, and those pictures he took are fabulous! I obviously wouldn't use the ones that have him or your mother in them. But I thought I'd get permission before I stole them. :)

Happy planning everyone!

Hi Christy.. welcome! It looks like we are getting married around the same time. Have you booked any vendors yet? I've booked our photographer who we're flying in from the mainland and i think that i've booked the DJ (sound illusion) although I haven't gotten any confirmation in writing from Kerry yet.

Hi Lynn! Wow, I was initially going to get married on May 8th, so we would have been there at the same time! I have booked my photog: Misha Earle. She's an associate of Sun Gold's and my WC told me that Misha shot a bunch of the photos at the last wedding she did at MDV. (They're here: HOME under Leslie and Patrick) Although I'm guessing Paula and Damien did most of the image editing. Misha should be getting her own site up and running soon. She said it would be any day now. So far, that's all I've booked. Well, other than the resort!

Claudette - I just looked at your website. Do you mind if I borrow the wording on the MDC amenities? I didn't see all that on the website and it will be great for getting my guests excited about staying there.

Congrats Christy!!! Of course you can use the pictures, feel free to "steal" away! It's so much more beautiful in person...my FI and I were there in OCT doing a site visit when it was under construction and the view off the cliffs is just breathtaking!! We are doing our honeymoon at Moon Dance Villas & we also did a site visit there and, yet again, it's so much more beautiful in person.

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading a few of the posts regarding MDC and thought I would add some info. I recently got married at MDC on April 25, 2009. I chose MDC over a year ago, after Rockhouse emailed me that they didn't want my business because I wasn't renting out the entire property - the only thing unfortunate about that was that I had already been communicating with them for several months. My now husband, Matt, found MDC while doing some research online, and we couldn't have made a better choice. I had also looked at a few of the all-inclusive resorts on the beach, but after visiting one of them, I am so happy we went with MDC. The AI had a wedding almost every hour, and there was nothing "special" about any of them. After reserving the resort, we were put in contact with Linus, and eventually Kerry, as our wedding coordinators. I had a ton of questions, of course, and both were always very helpful. We had approximately 20 guests at our wedding, and all of them stayed at the resort. As I posted on trip advisor, when planning a destination wedding you have to have some blind faith in your wedding coordinator, and everything turned out absolutely wonderful. I had the same price issue with the chairs and tie-backs as some of you, but Kerry quickly took care of that. We chose to have a live band (Front Page) that included a DJ for $1000.00. The band was great! I also downloaded special songs onto my IPOD, which I gave to Kerry to have played at specific times, and used my IPOD for the ceremony music. I used Floral Fantasy as my florist, and they were beautiful - exactly what I asked for. While we loved everything about MDC, two things really stood out - the food and the service. The group arrived 3 days prior to the wedding and the first and second nights we stayed at MDC and had the buffet they offered. The food was unbelievable! We are a well-traveled group, and every one of us raved about the food. They also provided karaoke and a dance party for both nights - we didn't have to go anywhere and had a wonderful time. I met with Kerry and Linus two days before the ceremony and we worked out all the details. They totally took care of everything the day of the wedding and all I had to do was show up. I had brought wedding favors with me and provided them to Kerry on Friday, the day before the wedding - even though I didn't specify how they should be on the tables, they were perfect. As everyone else, I was one of the people reading trip advisor every day for the 3 months prior to my wedding and stressing over the resort being complete. The landscaping is still growing, but the pool, the hot tubs, and the rooms were fine. We stayed in the 5 bedroom villa - it was huge, and very beautiful - it's right next to the cliff edge. A lot of our guests stayed in the basic hotel rooms and the only complaint was about the shower doors opening in the wrong direction. Our guests raved about the location, the food, and the staff. Our wedding couldn't have been better, and I wouldn't do anything different. So, for everyone out there who is worried about their wedding at MDC, I wouldn't stress about it (as if that was truly possible). I have no doubt that you will not regret your decision. I posted a few photos on trip advisor and would be happy to provide additional ones. Strangely enough, I also had tangerine for my colors - it blends perfectly with the atmosphere.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
