Have a great weekend!

Does anyone know what time for the ceremony is best if I want pictures after the ceremony to be right before and during sunset (in July)? The ceremony was originally for 5:30, but I thought that was too late because sunset is around 6:30 in July, so I had the time changed to 5, but now I don't know if 5:30 is better. What is everyone doing? So confused...

I was worried/confused about the same thing. I just checked with our photographer on what would be best. We were told sunset would be around 6:20 or so and our photographer thought 5 pm would be best for the wedding. She said the sun would be at a good angle for ceremoney shots and we would have plenty of time to get other shots in before sunset, and of course beautiful sunset shots. Hope this helps!

Hello Ladies!

I am new to the board. I am getting married at MDV in July 2010. I would like to hire the Front Page Band directly and was hoping someone might have their contact information (I did a google search but couldn't find it). Also, I heard someone say they used the same baker that the hotel recommends (maybe Meredith was her name?) but got the cake for much cheaper because they went to her directly. If anyone has the contact number for the baker that would be great to share as well!

Lastly, I am trying to book my photographer before the new year and would love suggestions on who you all think is the best...with one caveat. I have seen Sungold's photos and they are great but I do not have $3K for photos so was looking for someone a bit more affordable.

All thoughts and recommendations are GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks Ladies and Happy Planning!!!smile03.gif

Iâ€m sure having the wedding at the cliffs will be one nice surprise for your guests. The view there is spectacular!!! My husband and I are already planning on going back for our first anniversary :-). They actually offered us 30% off if we return within a year. We got married on August 15th so weâ€ll be there a week before your wedding :-).

We hired Front Page band for our reception. Theyâ€re REALLY good!!! Claudette, a fellow bride on this message board, used DJ Paul/Sound Illusion for her reception and recommends him very much. I guess it depends on your preference.

We wanted a live band…more specifically…a reggae band. My husband has Jamaican roots and I was born in Ethiopia…so, we both grew up listening to reggae or reggae influenced music all our lives. In addition, we chose the reggae band because they play live for the first three hours and for the forth hour, they let you use their equipment to play anything from a CD or an ipod. So, with them, you get the best of both worlds :-). However, the DJ may be a better route if youâ€re not into reggae music that much.

Hope this helps! If you have additional questions, you know where to find me :-).

Happy Planning!!!

~Rebecca

scottwashington - Stacey Clarke and Misha Earle both seem to be highly reccommended photographers. I am using Stacey. If you think you really might end up wanting Sun Gold, I would check your date with them now. I checked with them 10 months before our date and they were already booked.

Only 7 days left until we leave! 10 days until wedding day!

Hey girls!! Just got back a couple of days ago- the wedding was SOOO Awesome- you girls will be so happy with everything! MDC is truly a great experience.

Vendors I used:

Tai Flora for centerpieces, Floral Fantasy for bouquet

Maggie Stolzberg photographer (AWESOME- flew her out from Ft. Lauderdale)

Fire Dancer (through MDC)

Sound Illusion DJ (MDC)

We got there Wednesday to our beautiful Villa and our great butler Kerry. Relaxed and jumped off the cliffs! TIP: bring bug spray! Tons of mosquitoes...the resort will provide some if you don't have any though =)

Thursday: Breakfast at our villa. Welcomed all the other guests. Had welcome dinner (get the pumpkin soup- sooo good) and karaoke! The Karaoke was a little weird (they just found karaoke versions of songs on You-tube- a little ghetto).

Friday: Got up and hung out by the pool. chilled until my hair/makeup appointment at 2:30pm. Ross at the MDC salon was GREAT! I loved my hair and makeup (I brought my own foundation and concealer). Suggest your photographer comes with you to this and takes a few test shots to see if you need more concealer/ eye shadow etc..

4:30 pm- walked down the aisle to my awaiting groom to Pachelbel's Canon in D. Ceremony was 10 minutes tops and then did pictures and cocktail hour. The sunset was PERFECT - we got some really great pics.

7pm- got announced, first dance, and then dinner and then partying!!!

Kerry was a really great wedding planner- she took care of EVERYTHING! Paul from Sound Illusion was also great- don't worry if he doesn't respond to e-mail- we met with him the day before the wedding and he really knows music well.

The centerpieces were great too!

Everyone at Moon Dance really went out of there way for us and everyone in our wedding party had a great time.

PM me if you have questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
