Moon Dance Cliffs

Recommended Posts

My photographer is Sungold and we had to put down $500 to hold our date. Then 1/2 of the total is due 60 days before and the remainder is due the day of the shoot (but I will give it to them before that, just to be safe!).

Thanks, Misha is with them right? I think I spoke to Paula months ago and she suggested I use her. I am graduating 6/28, planning our engagement party and trying to put our website up, so I haven't had the time to really look into Photographers like I want to I may have to search for a thread specifically on Jamaican photographers. Is any one doing Video? That may be another project on my list might I add I still want to look at more dresses, LOL!

Hey everyone. I am new to the site and my FI and I have finally agreed on Moon Dance Cliffs!!! This place looks great and I am so excited we will all be able to share our experiences. By the end of this week, we should have our date set. (My first choice is 12/31/10...New years eve wedding!!)

Again, my girlfriends are fine with it, but my FI's friends will most likely get their own separate rooms, which will fill up the rooms rather quickly!
Hi Claudette,

Congratulations on your marrige!
I know it's been a while since you posted this message but I'm currently in the process of reserving rooms and was wondering what happened for any of your adult guests who wanted to share a room. Was sharing a bed the only option?

LOL! Kerry just sent me a message asking if I had any updates, I guess since I haven't contacted them in probably over a month. I was already prepared for the lack of communication and because of the Lovely Ladies that have assured us that things will turn out fine I just have not made any contact. I would like to book my photographer and the music so I asked he about that. But I'm having a little issue with the whole photographer thing, I love having pictures as reminders and we do want professional pictures, looking at the different photograhers work online, I don't see a big difference. I have seen only a few presentations that I wouldn't consider but not many. So can anyone offer me advice on what I should be looking for so I can decide asap? Thanks and happy planning or loving being a newlywed!

Hi "big3in09"
I am in the process of nailing down a date. My TA is getting pricing for me for 12/31/10 vs. Feb 2011. I am wondering when I should consider reserving rooms, and how many I should reserve since I have no idea who will actually show up. Can you let me know when and if you resered rooms and how you decided how many to do. (I was told that we had to reserve a minimum of 10 rooms but I'm considering going with the entire resort.)

(I'm so new to this, i have no idea about the photogs. Hopefully you can teach me something once you find out!)

Thanks so much!

Actually things have changed a bit since I booked because when I reserved I received the grand opening rates and I didn't have to do the 10 room min. What I would suggest is if you plan on getting the whole resort ask if they can offer you an incentive(sp) for booking the whole resort. I initially only did rooms for my immediate family but we probably will have the whole resort. Once you have your date set then you can go ahead and put a deposit on your rooms, if anything just do the 10 to start you off especially if you know you will need at least 10.

Claudette,

Thanks for all the info! You are great! And I looked at your pics- they turned out amazing. We will definitely be putting together an itinerary for everyone including all the flight info, and I think we're getting a fire dancer too, because of your glowing review =)

big3n09- we had a tough time choosing a photographer as well. I ended up going with someone who was recommended by a friend here- we are flying her out to Jamaica, because we want pictures from the whole weekend. It seems like it's worth it because it ends up being quite a bit for a photographer in Jamaica for only 6-8 hours.

Anyway, when we were picking a photographer, we looked at their style- we definitely wanted someone who had a more "journalistic" feel- not as many posed pictures. I don't know if that helps, but I would say try to find someone that suits your style. Do you want posed pics, candids, super artistic. Other things to consider- do they/ can they edit your pictures (i.e. airbrushing, effects), are they an "in your business" photographer or more out of the way? Well, I hope that helps! Our photographer is Maggie Stolzberg and I talked to her several times before we booked her. I'm sure you will get amazing pictures no matter who you go with.

Hi Claudette! Congratulations!!! Your pictures are amazing and I am very happy that every thing went well for you! You look stunning and your dress is beautiful! I read your reviews and the answers to everyoneâ€s questions. Thank you for taking the time to help us!!! I also have questions….most of them are about costs. Please donâ€t stress about answering them all in one post as they are a lot and could take you long (sorry about that).

Iâ€m putting together a list of songs for our reception in Virginia and was wondering if can see the list you created for your wedding. It will help me a lot as Iâ€m sure there are a lot of great songs I forgot to include. I reserved The Front Page band for our reception at MDV….I donâ€t think they come with MC…..I was thinking of considering Oliver based on your review. By any chance, do you know what his cost is if hired with out DJ Paul? I like the lighting package idea. I never even thought about it until you mentioned it. Iâ€m certain it made a difference. I wonder if the band offers it. Iâ€ll have to check with Oneika.

Your cake looks soo pretty! Who did it? How much did it cost you and for how many people did you order it? Did you have to pay extra for the flower decorations?

Your TTD pics are amazing and the cave looks awesome! You mentioned the elderly woman, the owner of the property, charges more if she sees you in your wedding gown. How much more does she charge? Did you change your dress after you entered the property or before? Itâ€s probably better if I change after entering the property to avoid traveling in my wedding dress since MDV is about 6 or 7 miles away from the MDC. BTW, how long did it take for your dress to dry after your TTD shoot? Weâ€re doing our TTD on Sunday and have to be going back home the next day (Monday afternoon) to get ready for our reception in VA. Hopefully, I donâ€t have to pack it while itâ€s not too dry :-).

For the rehearsal dinner, did the Rockhouse restaurant have an outside sitting area or was it inside? How much did it cost you per guest? Can you please send me a copy of the menu? rebecca_darron@yahoo.com. Weâ€re also thinking of going with the fire dancer. How much did you pay for him? Not sure if we should reserve him for the rehearsal dinner or the reception. From your pics, it looks like he was a lot fun to watch.

I loved your decorations. I still havenâ€t decided on what Iâ€m going with. Just wondering…how much the two flower arrangements at the gazebo cost you? Your bouquet is also pretty! Was that completely covered by Moon Dance? I saw you holding one on your TTD pics as well. That must be one of your BMâ€s, right? Or did you order two?

BTW, did you use the spa at MDC? If so, how did you like it? I made reservations for my hair & makeup. Hopefully theyâ€re good.

Since you didnâ€t do AI, how much did you pay per guest for the reception dinner? Can you please send me the menu if you have a copy of it? They donâ€t have a restaurant at Moon Dance Villas…so...we would have to create a menu on our own. MDCâ€s price may be different but at least it would give me a good idea of how much we should expect to spend per guest. Did the menu include the fruit displays, deserts, chocolate fountain…etc I saw on your pics (It looks great BTW) or was that extra? Thank you soooo much for all your help again!!!! Wish you and your husband a great life and a happy future together!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
