Also, I forgot to mention we have not signed any contracts yet, so the AI rates are not grand opening or special. I think they are just the rates that the hotel will charge from now on...Cause I think people that booked earlier got better 'grand opening' rates.

I got a little worried when I heard about the resort potentially going all-inclusive.. wasn't sure how that was going to affect the pricing that we are already locked into for our block of rooms. I just talked to Kim this morning because we had to add a few more rooms to our block and I asked her about the all-inclusive thing. She said that they are currently working out the details which will apply to new bookings and that it won't affect anyone who is already booked but that Randy will work on pricing for those who are already booked if we do want to go AI. If we don't want to switch to AI, we don't have to.

I tried asking about the ceremony and reception if it rains, but she deferred me to the wedding coordinators. I'm sure they will be able to work something out, but let's all pray for sun!

I'll let you know if I hear anything else!

Neha,

You mentioned Sunset at the Palms few posts above. I was considering them before I booked Moon Dance. While it looks so nice and beautiful, past brides I talked to kept telling me that I won't hear from the planner much until there's 2 or 3 weeks left to the big day. The wedding planner I was planning to hire from the US at the time also said she doesn't deal with SATP anymore for that reason. So, I just wanted to tell you that if you're like me who wants to finish everything two months before the big day, SATP is not for you. If you're more like a last minute person, then SATP may work for you. So.....just wanted to give you a warning. As for MDC, post everything you wanna know here and we'll all help you with them. I'm getting married at their other property, Moon Dance Villas, but some of the things are similar so I should be able to answer some of your questions.

Happy Planning :-))))

Does anyone know about how this AI option may be priced and when it will be released moving forward? Is it an option or will the entire resort now be AI no matter what?

Does anyone know if an how much this will be over and above the pubished rates that we see today? I'm curious because we explored an AI option at this place and I'm wondering what the price is going to be.

Hello All. I have been communicating with Kerry and it is rather frustrating to say the least. None of the original prices mentioned seem to make any sense at all. The prices on their site for decorations, DJ, cakes, etc. are different than the ones in her current emails. They are also different than the prices if I were to contact some of these vendors directly on my own. Furthermore, there is not really any type of selection or choice of vendors...making me feel like the whole thing is full of kick backs.

Isn't a WC supposed to be on your side? I do not feel like there is room to negoiate nor do I feel like they have our best interests at heart. I am not made of money and they are really beginning to piss me off. Anyone else having this experience? Should I just hire another WC that can do the legwork of getting the best vendors at the best costs?

The grand opening rates shouldn't impact the AI. And if they do, they should actually be lower than the ones that they are offering today. Based on the numbers in Neha's email (and the ones on their site now, again assuming no Grand Opening Rate), they have quoted her a rate of $105 per person on the hotel room. So it seems somewhat unclear.

OMG! I hope they clear all this up like ASAP! I have been holding off calling knowing my date is far out but I paid the deposit for our villa and 7 other rooms early to get the grand opening rate and they not about to get over on me. I may need to make a phone call and find out what is going on. When I do I will let you guys know what was said!

ssleenyc - I recommend you talk to the vendors yourself. By doing that, I think you'll save and/or maybe get a better deal. In one of the e-mails my planner sent me, it said the minimum for cake is $350. I talked to the baker myself and got mine for $250. Now, $100 dollars may not seem much for some people but it goes a long way when you plan a wedding.

I don't think you should hire another WC. Just post your questions here and we can all help you. As for the decorations, yeah.....it's crazy expensive. I'm bringing the chair tiebacks and the table runners with me. In Virginia, they rent them for fifty cents each but at Moon Dance...it's $2 each. So...there's usually an alternative to some of the things that Moon Dance suggests.

Also, the company Moon Dance uses for tables, chairs, table clothes....etc. rentals, presents the invoice in Jamaican Dollars. I recommend you plan to pay for them when you get there to avoid loss in currency. The banks will give you a better rate than the resorts do.

big3n09 - I think you should start planning and reserving vendors as soon as you can. Sometimes vendors get booked far in advance. If you start early, you’ll have a greater chance of finding most vendors available on your date.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
