Moon Dance Cliffs

Recommended Posts

Yikes!!.. I'm actually doing a site visit 2nd week of May and have an appointment to meet with the MDC wedding coordinator now i'm having second thoughts about Moon Dance Cliff cry.gif. I didn't know that they are nickeling and diming for every little thing.  I thought they offer free shuttle service to and from the beach since Moon Dance Villa/Cliff are the same company? The last time I checked their website the all inclusive rate includes pickup and drop off at the airport as well.

Hi ladies!!!!

This post is long overdue.  I was married at Moon Dance Cliffs on April 8th and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!  I'm a hotel snob and I have to say that my wedding was PERFECT and I wouldn't change anything.

HOTEL TRANSFERS ---- We arrived a day before most of the guests.  When we got to the airport, they sent two vans (one for the guys and one for me an my mom to shop in Montego Bay for the guests' welcome bags).  The transportation is a little shabby (no escalades or limos), but it's Jamaica.  The drivers are nice, they have cold drinks, just sit back and enjoy the ride.  I booked in October 2010 and got married April 2011.  I never knew that transportation was once included, but I had Miriam/Kim add $50 to everyone's bill and covered the rest.  The guests had their shuttles waiting and did not have to worry about anything when they got off the plane. It worked out just fine.

HOTEL ARRIVAL --- We were greated with rum punch.  Richard (concierge) is at the front desk to accomodate all of your guests' needs.  As the bride, everybody knew my name and treated me as if I were a princess.  My butlers (Kerry and Lashorn) were there to greet me and escorted me to the room.  They ordered my meals, kept the refrigerator stocked, and there to do any and everything (my own personal assistant is the best way to describe it).  When my guests arrived, they were all hungry and exhausted from the trip.  We sat out at Annie's, ordered lunch, and drank plenty of "Dirty Bananas".  It was truly a welcome to Jamaica experience!!!!

WELCOME BARBECUE/REHEARSAL DINNER --- We had a "traditional" Jamaican barbecue (curried goat, jerk chicken, snapper escovitch, plantain, bammies, festivals, etc.) and everything that I tasted was AWESOME!!!!!!  We hired the steel band (soooooooo animated) and sooooooo GREAT!!!!  They played the iPod during intermission, so I'd suggest you guys have a few playlist on hand.

CEREMONY --- The ceremony was on the wedding lawn, which was much smaller than I imagined.  We hired the guitarist and he was AMAZING!!!!  I asked Kerry (wedding coordinator) to select my songs and she chose Amazing by Bruno Mars....I love that song.  We stayed at the Poinciana and everyone watched as I walked from the villa to the gazebo (just a few steps away). I feel like it was a dream and can't remember much. It was just perfect.

RECEPTION --- We had appetizers and cocktails on the lawn while they setup for dinner.  The guitarist continued to play while we took photos.  We used the iPod during dinner and played all of my favorites.  The food was MAGNIFICENT, Nordia did my cake and everybody LOVED it, and the DJ was AWESOME...I danced the entire night!!!!  Oh and we surprised our guests with the firedancer which was totally the WOW factor.

Ladies, I read all of the older posts several times before my wedding. We can't help but to let the unknown  get the best of us.  One thing you will notice is that after all of the worries and complaints EVERY bride comes back to the site and says how FANTASTIC their weddings turned out to be.  So if you choose another resort for your event, I'm sure that it will be nice and you will never know what you're missing.  But if you choose Moon Dance Cliffs, your wedding will be all yours....your special day......a wedding bigger than you could ever imagine.

Kerry (coordinator) is a ROCK STAR.....she will not let you down.  No other resort will give you this type of attention and the staff won't know your name.  Most AI meals taste like AI meals, but the food at MDC is the best!!!!!  You have a personal housekeeper (mine was Marline), who brings in fresh flowers and is also there for your every need.  And the service was so great that we tipped the staff every night (and believe me, I had not planned for it).  For this time of attention, service, and quality.....you won't have any regrets.

Overall, my wedding was AWESOME, WONDERFUL, AMAZING, FANTSTIC, and PERFECT!!!!  Any guestions?

THANK YOU ROBIN!  I just knew it was going to be amazing... they treated us like royalty on our site visit, so I knew it had to be better than royalty the actual day of the wedding.  I cannot imagine getting married anywhere else.  Thank you for confirming that for us all again!

Jacki--Thank you thank you THANK you for all that info!  I know it's all "island time" I just thought that 2 months would have been long enough.  I am so glad to hear that she had more planned than you had known through e-mail.  To know that she's organized but might not e-mail every idea/update is a relief.  Also, I'm going to check with the reservations office about the tent thing.  Either way, if I MUST use the tent, it gives us an opportunity to string up capiz shells, which I always thought would be pretty......

Robin--I'm so glad you posted this!  I am so glad your wedding went so perfectly! I am happy for you :)  And thanks for pointing out that all the brides come back and gush--you're right.  If you can share pictures with us, we would all love to see them!!

ladies, i have just returned from mdc. we were married last sat april 23rd. i have been reading these posts but not always posting. let me just say reading the last few weeks worth has gotten me upset. so let me please start easing some minds. there have been complaints on here about the price of the resort, the extras, the tent, etc. please remember that mdc is an small LUXURY hotel..it is not sandals. yes there are quite a few cheaper options out there that will include EVERYTHING...but they are also the same places filled a ton of people including children..and they put on five different weddings a day. there is no special treatment, im sure they dont even know your name there. at mdc you are treated like you are the only guests in the world! i can t even begin to tell you how beautiful the place is..but the best thing about mdc is the people!!!!! they are the most kind genuine and warmest people. the minute we stepped foot on the resort they knew who we were along with the other 50 guests we had there, they do not let you do anything!!! and the wedding..ahhh the wedding it was the most perfect thing i would ever have imagined. they did everything i wanted and more. no stress what so ever!!! Kerry is amazing, trust in her. she will get it all done. dont start panicing if she doesnt get back to you right away. she only needs a couple months to pull it together. remember she has other wedding before yours to take care of. she will give you all the attention you need once its closer to the date. she will not let you down. so remember why you choose a destination wedding to begin with..no stress!! as long as you book your photographer ahead of time..dont worry about everything else just yet. i will never be able to thank the staff of mdc enough for all they did for us. it was the most amazing vacation ever..we have already booked for our  5 year anniversary thats how much all our guests loved it. no one wanted to leave. so ladies relax and enjoy it all because when its over its over...Amy

Amy,  Thanks for the post!  I am so happy to see yet another happy bride post their review!  I am so excited for my December wedding and have no doubt Kerry will plan details that I had not even thought about yet.  She was more on top of things at my site visit than I was.  Post pics when you can Amy!

Amy-

I find the tone of your gushing review to be a bit defensive and frankly, quite fishy.  If I didn't know any better I'd think there is a little more to your story.  Are you in some other way affilliated with MDC? Why would you let recent post upset you? They are simply from future brides sharing their feelings and concerns about how they feel about MDC's costs and changes.  This is a public, open forum where people should say what they please.  I'm sure we all know that MDC is not Sandals but thank you for pointing out the obvious.

wow! i thought everyone was entitled to their opinion on here as well. and no i am not affiliated with mdc at all. i was just really that happy with everything they did for us. i did not mean to offend anyone with my post by any means. i was actually trying to make them feel better. and i guess this is the problem with emails, and message boards..you can never really understand the tone of what one is saying and things get taken out of context. i am not "fishy", thank you very much..just someone who had a right to post as long as the rest of you

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
