Meitra,

Was the steel band you used the one through the resort?  Kerry had originally told me it was only 1 steel pan player, but your picture showed 2.  I want 2, so I just want to make sure you used the same band through the resort.  Did you have them play at your ceremony?  Or just cocktail hour?  If you had them play at your ceremony, what music did you choose?

Sorry for all the questions.  I just really want a steel pan for the ceremony and I want to make sure what I am envisioning in my head is what actually can happen!  Thanks!

Jacki7896,

Yes, I used the steel band that MDC offered.  I had them play for the ceremony and the cocktail hour.  We were able to tell them what songs to play for everything, except one thing that Kerry didn't tell me about was that they would play a song in the middle of the ceremony while we signed the marriage license.  So I didn't select a song for that and while we were signing our marriage license they played "I never want to dance again" by Wham!  OMG, I was sitting there like "what are they honestly playing right now???" to my hubby as we signed our license...  As for the songs we did pick, here they are:

While Guests are being Seated: Wise Men Say, One Love

While Parents are being Seated: My Way

Groom and Best Man entrance:  Iâ€m Yours

Matron of Honor/ring bearer/flower girls entranceCanon in D

Brideâ€s entranceHere Comes the Bride

Bride and Groom recessionalHot Hot Hot

Let me know if you have any other questions!

:) Meitra

Hi Lisa,

I've been such a slacker!!!!!  I kept pushing everything off until "after the holidays" and now I realize that it's "after the holidays".....time is really flying.  Kerry emailed me today, so I'm getting on the ball with the planning now.  I've been online all night trying to get this stuff together.  I do have a dress appointment on Saturday (still debating on the Running of the Brides in NYC).  Have you gotten your dress?  So much to do, so little time....but it's EXCITING!!!!!

Hi Robin!

Youâ€re so right…time is flying! I find myself online all the time getting things together so if I can do anything to help send me a shout. When is the running of the Brides? Actually no, donâ€t tell me. I already have my dress. Last thing I need to do is look at others, haha. Hopefully Saturday goes well and you find your dream dress. :)

Hi Robin - I'm getting married at MDV on 7/23/11 and was just in Jamaica for a site visit. Saw MDC and it is beautiful. There was a wedding the weekend we were there (they used Paul from Sound Illusion who we had met earlier in the day at the villas - he's a doll), but I did get a chance to look around and to meet your coordinator, Kerri. If you live in NYC or are coming to NYC for The Running of the Brides, which I think is on 2/18/11, I 100% recommend that you make an appointment at Modern Trousseau. I ended up getting dress there after looking at Saks and a few other places. Modern Trousseau and April, the showroom manager, blew the other places out of the water. All the dresses are custom tailored to your exact measurements, something I found very appealing given that I'm just about making the 5 foot mark. And I really can't say enough nice things about April who gave me such personalized attention and all the time I needed to find "the dress". Nothing at all in it for me, I just saw that you were thinking about going to NY and think it will be completely worth your while to stop by Modern Trousseau if you're going to be in town.

Happy planning ladies!

Did you get in touch with Cherry through Kerry? Love the way the orchids looked at the gazebo. Thanks for that tip and the one about a lot of candles. I'll be sure to bring a bunch.

Hi Lisa - I was just in Negril and met with Rosemarie of Floral Fantasies. She'll be doing my wedding and quoted me $3/each for votives for the tables in the event that I do not want to bring my own from  NY. I'm sure you can work out something similar with your florist. I know it's more $$, but it also save some packing room, fear of them breaking, etc. In all likelihood, they will have larger candles as well, but for a greater cost.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
