Wedding the same day as mine!!!

Wow, wow, wow...that's really rough! Is this the only day he can do this? I find it hard to believe that out of the 365 days of the year it would have to fall on the week of your wedding. Is this his way of getting out of going to your wedding? We're they planning on attending? To me it seems suspicious and I absolutely don't blame you for getting upset.

Talk it out and find out if there is another reason behind all this!

Hell no cmon how can he even ask you that. You and FI have put in all the work planning for this special day for you. He wants to take the easy way out. Just tell him no sorry your going to have to do your on planning on this one sorry. A suggestion might be that he can maybe surprise her by telling his wife on the last day of the vacation that he would like to do a vow renewal. Let us know how it goes.

.... ? Seriously? I'm waiting for the "January Fools!"

No. That's just not going to work. Want me to talk to him? I'll set him straight. He thinks his wife is going to be flattered by a vow renewal the same day as your wedding?

1) She'll be pissed that she has to share her day as much as you would be (and me also in that case).

2) She'll be pissed that he is trying to pinch pennies on a vow renewal by doing a "joint wedding." Who does that?!

It's very sweet that he wants to do this for their marriage and I am sure she will love it. But she will love it more if the delivery is executed in a way that makes it their unique day.

Let him know, that while you think it's wonderful that he's trying to surprise your cousin, this is a special day that is important to both you and FI. Tell him you guys really want to just focus on each other that day and it's something you've planned for a long time. If necessary, bring up the idea of maybe doing it in the days AFTER your wedding...although to me, that's still a bit tacky confused.gif

But yes ~ I strongly support a big HELL NO to the idea!!!!
Bravo! That's exactly how I would have put it! DO NOT let him ruin your day. You have every right to have the wedding of YOUR dreams and not have to share it. You do this once in a lifetime (well twice for me, kind of ...hehe). Be strong and DON'T GIVE IN. You put a lot of effort and hard work into this.

He's a man. He has no idea how inappropriate it would be. Don't be too hard on him, he is actually trying to plan something nice for his wife and he deserves credit for that!

Just be nice and kindly explain to him that it would hurt your feelings because you want that day to be YOUR day and you don't want to share it. BUT....you wouldn't care if he did that the next day or so after YOUR day.

Sounds all to familiar - when we planned our DW we called my FI's (now my DH) sister and she was engaged too and she actually decided to get married while we were there too - major drama - but it happened. My advice however is to say NO WAY! This is YOUR wedding - it's not a free for all vow renewal marriage vacation for everybody. You went to the trouble of finding the spot, booking your wedding, and trust me you will feel taken advantage of and that you are sharing your wedding with someone else. Trust me on this one. Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
