???OOT Bag Price???

Recommended Posts

Okay....so I went to Target got some stuff to do a mock OOT bag to show my FI. First off the bags at Target are okay....but not as cute as last years. But anyway after buying just the little travel stuff my total was $20.00 for ONE bag. Can you gurls help me out and let me know what you spent per bag? I know that if I buy things in bulk from Sam's or Costco it will run a little cheaper. I am trying to convince my FI that we HAVE to do these bags. I don't want to do favors so this will be like a huge favor. Please help!

We have figured it out to be approximately $14 per bag and are doing 25 bags.

Our good friend owns a hair salon so he donated travel size shampoo/conditioner and lotion. We are also working on getting a pharmacist friend to get sample size Immodium/Advil for us from one of the reps (crossing our fingers!). I also heard that some doctors will donate samples if you ask. It's worth the try.

We are trying to do whatever we can to keep down costs! My FI was laughing at me the other day because I was thinking of redeeming points to get gift cards for places where we can purchase items for our OOT bags - lil miss frog, you can try that with your FI!

I personally think $20 per OOT bag is reasonable though!

Okay I spent $3.50 on my bags but I think that they are REALLY nice and were originally $12.50 at Old Navy.

Then I am including the following

First Aid Kits-$1.00 (Dollar Tree)

Stomach Meds (Mom is getting from her work-FREE)

Spanish for Dummies-$1.00 (Target)

Crossword Puzzles or Suduko Book-$1.00 (Dollar Tree)

Hand Sanitizer-.25 (Bought on Clearance)

Bug Wipes-.50 worth per bag (Bought on Clearance)

Nail Files-.25 (Dollar Tree)

Monogramed Tissue Pack-.50 (Tuesday Morning)

Snacks (bought at Costco)

We are still deciding on a few things like

Koozies, cigars for the guys, key holders

I think I will mostly spend around $15.00 per bag and will be doing about 20 bags ($300). The thought with the Koozies is that we will have extras since you have to buy them in bulk and we will have the at our AHR.

Only problem with that is I don't think they will be that useful at the resort.

Hope this helps.

I haven't put my bags all together yet, but we're looking at around $15-$20 per person. We're having 40 people (so approx 22 bags) but don't want to do little favors, people never take them, and think the money is worth it since they are coming that far. I wouldn't get the bags target has right now, those aren't their summer bags yet, its just part of the fitness line. They don't put out the cute summer ones til March or April.

How many bags do you need? What all do you want to include?

Our bags were $3 each

we bought small hand fans from pier 1 for .68 cents each

the fans needed batteries so the batteries in target $1 section were .25 cents each for a pack of 4 so we spent approx .12cents per bag on those

I bought beach mats last summer for each person for a $1 each most bags will have 2 of those

I'm making welcome books out of paper bags so around $5 for all of them

Beach balls from OT $8

Frisbees from OT $8

T-shirts (wholesale) $65 for 40 of them

Transfers cause we're making them ourselves $20

Making koozies w/ transfers ourselves $1 each

spanish for dummies $1 each

Then once we get there we'll get some candy from costco to go in there.

That will make ours I guess around $12-$15 each.

I'm super scared to add up what I'm spending per bag. I really think its more then $20!! But don't tell the FI that!!! Ha!

Some places I did manage to keep costs down where ordering the 99 cent lotions and body washes from Avon. I also found the Bath and Body works hand sanitizer for 99 cents.

I did splurge on the bag itself, I bought those at 5 Below for $5 each, but they came with a mat, and a smaller bag. They are super cute and huge! Someone else bought them first, I can't remember for the life of me who it was though!

I did order stainless steel coffee mugs for everyone. From Discount Mugs, they ran me $77 including shipping for 24 of them. Then I ordered stickers from Zazzle to put on them. I can't wait to see how they turn out!!

I'm also going to hit up Sams Club for the medicine stuff, they have the boxes with the single dose packets pretty cheap. I'm also going to get some munchie stuff from Sams also.

I don't think its the price thats bothering me as much as WHERE AM I GOING TO PACK THE STUFF!!!!

Thank god we're not flying, we're cruising out of NJ and I can make all my guests in the limo be my pack rats!!!

To be honest it all depends on what you plan on putting in it. As of right now I am at $40 per bag. I am doing a total of 15. The reason why it is so high is because I did emboidered beach towels which ran me $400 for 45 of them.

You can keep the costs down by doing a personalized gift bag instead of a beach bag filled with maybe some snacks, personalized water bottles and go on ebay or oriental trading. I got some personalized mints 12 for $15 and mini hand held fans 12 for $13. I hope this helps and I hope you get your way.

Thanks for the heads up about the bags at Target. I think I'll have to wait till March to really start buying the stuff. I only need to do between 15-20 bags. So I'm hoping I can find enough bags when it comes time to do it. But now that I think about it....I have 3 Targets within 5 miles of me. I think I went a little happy yesterday when buying the stuff to actually put in the OOT bag.

Tissues

Cocktails for Dummies

Pond's Clean Sweep (for the ladies)

Travel Q-Tips

Travel lint roller

Aloe with cucumber lotion

Travel Tylenol

First aid kit

Static Guard

Hand Sanatizer

Tide to go

Wipes

I also wanted to ask a question about my first aid kits. I'm not sure if anybody has done this or thought of doing it....but I was thinking getting the spray paint that can be used on plastic (it doesn't chip away) and spray the actual case my wedding color. I was wondering if anybody has done this. If you have I would like to know how well they held up.

Thanks for everybody's input so far. I'm glad to see I'm not to far off from the norm.

I haven't heard of anyone doing it, but you should try it on one and see if it works.

We decided not to do too much $1 stuff from target cause people don't use it. We like the first aid kits cause most people wont think of bringing such a thing, but a small lotion or shampoo they will probably remember, and if they didn't then they are going to be there for 2 weeks, they are going to need more than a small bottle so they will have to buy some anyway.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
