Notarized copy of birth certificate

Recommended Posts

I just realized there are short and long versions of birth certificate. I sent a notarized copy of short version and advised my WC that Canadian BC don't carry father's name.

Has anyone gotten married in Jamaica with the short version? I'm not sure I have enough time to get the long version now. I leave next week.

Hey everyone

I, too, have a bit of a problem. Now my birth certificates are both in french, so I have to get them translated. BUt where do I do that ? I already checked with a notary and they said I would have to get them translated and that they would do one affidavit certifiying that both are true copies of the originals. Now is that even what I need ?

And I thought that the notary was going to do the translation!! So what do I do now ?

I have been looking everywhere for the info

Anyone can help

I had a HUGE issue with this ..... Canadian birth certificates did not start including the fathers name until 1984. My fiancee was born prior so never had his fathers name of the certificate, where as I was born in 1986 and do have my fathers name on it. However, we just took it to a lawyer who gave us certififed copies and it was fine. But it took forever for my Wedding coordinator to figure this out!

My future hubby ran into a problem with trying to get a copy of his birth certificate notarized in GA . Get this the olny way they would have done it is if the evryone that orginally signed the bc their to sign again. Are kidding me, the dootor is probably dead by now! He called me and I talked to them while he was thrying to get this done and tha is what they told me. In VA I had no problems the notary told me to bring my orginal bc and make a copy of my orginal bc in front of her and that's all I needed. So I called Sandals and explained to the WC what was going on she then informed me that some that are picky about copying bc. So she sent me an affidavit that we will need to get notarized that basically says that you agree that you are sending acopy of your true original bc. Thank God! I was statring to get a littled worried about gettin gthis paperwork done.

I was born in Manitoba and I just had to fax over a request to vital statistics for a certified copy of my BC. It took about six weeks and I received it in the mail. FI was born in Ontario and he submitted the application online for a certified copy of his BC. He got his after only a couple of weeks. The Manitoba application only required my name, d.o.b and place of birth. The Ontario one wanted all kinds of info, right down to Mother's address at time of birth. Each of them cost about $25. It was pretty cool to see how our mother's wrote back then. And P.S. we were both born before 1984 and both provinces listed the fathers on the long form, there is no parental information on the short wallet size forms.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
