We're taking dance lessons!!!

Recommended Posts

bunny_4.gif On Sunday afternoon, FI and I along with about 12 other family members had our first dance lesson!!!

A friend of my Uncle's apparently teaches all different sorts of "partnered" dancing, and is so freaking good!!! Best of all he is the nicest man, and pretty much said he'd charge us whatever we thought was appropriate since he was a friend. My uncle asked if $25/hour was good, and he was beyond happy, saying that it was actually too much?!?! jiggy.gif So between all the couples we split the cost of $50, plus tip.

Our first lesson was on Salsa dancing, he brought a video that really helped teach the basics and then we'd practice. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! My dad so has 2 left feet which kept us all laughing. FI was lovin it, and he took turns being partners with my 13-year-old daughter and I. She by the way is a natural, and too cute wink.gif

I think this is gonna become an every weekend thing, and our instructor plans on teaching us different types of dances, including the tango, cha-cha, bambo, samba, some line dancing, some Filipino cultural dances, pretty much everything!!!

Hopefully come June 26th, we will all be rockin it out on the dance floor!!! punk.gif

Girl that's another story!!! BangHead.gif FI and I decided like half a year ago that our first dance was gonna start off to some sappy love song and then turn into a surprise hip-hop routine to a bunch "booty music", lol. woot2.gif So we downloaded all these songs, and we even planned for my daughter to join in halfway through.

In the meantime, my mom, who has become addicted to watching wedding shows is freaking hounding me about "you guys should do a surprise hip-hop routine, you need to make your wedding memorable for all your guests". As if a freaking destination wedding in some small fishing village wasn't enuff!!! All the while she has no clue we've been planning the shit all along, and Im trying to keep it a surprise. mad2.gif

So to appease her, we're also having our instructor put together some sorta routine, either latin infused or some traditional Filipino dance. Ugh, so basically we're gonna have to learn 2 secret dances ~ one of which will be a complete surprise to everyone!!

Yep so on top of all the wedding planning stress, I must also now become a freaking dancing with the stars contestant...all because my mom is driving me nuts!!!!! girl_werewolf.gif sorry that vent was a long time coming.... wink.gif

How bout you, what's in store for you guys??

We are doing the same thing! Every Thursday we are taking two hours of salsa and tango lessons. No one knows what we are doing, nor will they expect it. Our dance teacher is going to choreograph a dance that starts off with a tango (using the song from the movie True Lies) and then half way through switch to salsa. My FI and I are working on staying off each others feet and having a great time doing it.

Oh gals you will love it, I'm excited for you!! woot.gif I think dancing lessons are such a great way to spend time your significant other outside of your normal elements. And when you see your men getting all into it, it just makes you love em even more msnwink.gif

Unfortunately there will be no dancing lessons for us...Can't get FI to even consider it. Oddly enough I saw a Bridezilla episode where the bride and groom did a booty shake dance routine ---OMG!! You guys will have an absolute blast! In the meantime.......(crickets chirping in the background)...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
