Many thanks! :)

I don't know wether she's the cheapest, but you should check out ceciliadumas.com. Her pictures are beautiful and her packages are reasonable. She seems really nice and gets back to you pretty quick.

We decided to take a chance!!

We ended up booking Dennis at BlueLensCaribe to do our wedding. When looking into it earlier we were a bit skeptical, but after researching and contacting a few of his other clients, we don't think we really shouldn't have been worried. I ended up getting 5 1/2 hours of service for $1,000 which includes ALL photos on CD as well as 200 edited photos.

We are getting married on November 18th, I will put a review when I am finished!!

We do have a backup plan incase things don't go as planned, but we are quite confident, we wont even have to worry about it.

Sunita, Which did you end up choosing? I looked into Del Sol, but they are super duper pricey. In Chicago i could get a great photographer for $3,000 - $4,000, so it seems crazy that they are charging more than that. I thought Michael Maurus's site (cancun-weddings) looked good, but I just saw a post from a very unhappy bride. I only need a photog for a few hours and would love someone great and afforable. (don't we all?)

But we aren't in Chicago :) We are actually here risking our necks in hurrican zone, swine flu infested, drug lord invaded, police corrupt Mexico!

HA, jk. Our prices are set because the demand for our services. Simply enough, we work nearly 150 events every year. If we lower our prices or give super discounts, we kill ourselves which leads to burnout...

Sorry we weren't the right fit for you.

Both Elizabeth and Del Sol are amazing..
Thanks for the kind words, we love our job in a big time way! Elizabeth is amazing too... She is a dear friend of ours and someone to trust behind the camera, no doubt.

Our pricing has changed --same rates--(actually simplified the format) so the link no longer works. We actually try to figure out what our client's expectations are prior to sending them prices, because for us, its a little bit more about "HOW MUCH". I know I know, pricing is impt. So is making sure we can meet your expectations.

Nonetheless, we have hired a full time studio manager to answer all our inquiries (usually same day if not within 24 hours) who then sends out a detailed questionnaire so we can actually see what we are up against and outline ALL of your expectations. Then, we recommend the coverage needed based on your information.

So, vs clicking on that link for pricing, just send email to our studio manager, por favor.

saludos!

Does anyone know if Elizabeth Medina is still an "active" wedding photographer? I sent an email with a few different dates in 2010. She said she was booked, I asked her to send available dates as our wedding date has still to be confirmed and I'd be willing to work with her availability - I'm still waiting for her reply. My best friend is also getting married in Mexico in 2012 !! She inquired about a weekday in Sept. 2012....and she claims she's booked already !! I've also read a few posts and the common response is "I'm already booked for your date".

Hi Nicitica! I live in Canada but ended up hiring an Awesome photographer from Dallas for our wedding!!! I found many great photographers in Mexico when I was doing my search, but as you mentioned, some are very expensive and others are a good price if you get them for a couple of hours. I wanted someone who was awesome, affordable and could stay for the whole wedding and reception!!! I saw a past brides pictures on the Dreams Cancun forum and asked about her photographer, who is Jeremy Gilliam. I emailed him, told him my budget and we worked something out! I am so happy I emailed him b/c I am getting exactly what i want and his work is so great. You can check him out at Destination Wedding Photography Dallas Wedding Photographer Jeremy Gilliam. Good luck in your search!

Hi "Indy", Yes, I think "active" would be a good descriptive...I don't think there are too many out there whose cameras get more of a workout as many BDW brides can attest!

Please let me know if you have not received a response by now to your latest email. I am sorry it took a while to hear back this time! We are not yet booking 2012 dates, we will begin to do that at some point in late 2010 or early 2011. Since we do limit the number of events we cover in a given month, and the dates do fill so rapidly, so the day of the week is often not a good indicator of availability.

Just a general comment... We photographers can tend to receive quite a bit of email, in order to facilitate communication it is very helpful to fill in the requested contact information completely: full name, phone number, date and location of wedding.

It is good to hear so many suggestions and comments on photographers, there are many options out there and I am sure there is an ideal photographer out there for each couple. One "tip" I would like to give to those searching in order to avoid any surprises. Ask to see complete real weddings start to finish, the actual groups of images just as the client received them ( and of course those images should be from the photographer who will be shooting your wedding from weddings where he was responsible as the principle photographer). The proof is in the pudding as they say! (what on earth does that mean though?)rolleyes.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
