earlobe infections?

Here's an update from the jeweler, sometimes moisture trapped under a piece of jewelry can cause irritation. Do you sleep on your right side or place a headpiece or phone on your right ear? Could it be infected from something like that? The jeweler told me to keep the jewelry off and use neosporin and/ or hydrocortisone.

i never sleep with any jewelry on. so sorry about your ring finger that is crazy!

Honestly... my sister thinks I'm nuts! She's seen it multiple times and knows that I'm not lying... but she can't explain it.

Thankfully swarvski crystals are typically solid gold posts and backs so i can finally buy really awesome earrings at a fraction of the typical gold cost.

Alyssa, I have had the same problem. My ears were pierced when I was a baby and I always had to wear gold earrings or they would get infected. My dad got me a pair of white gold diamond studs years ago and I wear them every day and sleep with them in. I usually have no problem, but every once in awhile I will have a flare up. I usually will take them out for a day or two and clean them again before I put them back in. That usually does the trick. I'm not sure what causes the flare ups because I am pretty anal about cleaning my jewelry and wiping down my phones with alcohol wipes.

I get it 2 for some strange reason. I can only wear gold and as I don't wear yellow gold the white gold wears off after a while. I tend to take them out clean them and leave them for a couple of days give the ears a breather and that works.

 

My worse is my belly ring god that gets infected at the drop of a hat. I burst it again yesterday which freaks everyone out but sometimes it has to be done lol

 

My advice taken them out for a day or so, let it settle down and try again

I used to get infections quite often until I became a peroxide junky!

 

I soak all my earrings in hydrogen peroxide before I put them in regardless of what they are made of. If I leave in the same pair of earrings for an extended period of time (like my diamond studs) I dip a q-tip in peroxide and press it to my earlobe, both front and back, to "degerm" my earring hole.

 

I have no issues now - regardless of the material the earrings are made out of.
