Is it normal for a TA to...

All of a sudden tell my guests that they're charging a $25 management fee for questions on flights or hotels, without letting me know this first? They will apply the fee to your reservation if you book with them, which I understand, but she never told me about this fee to begin with so I was unable to let my guests know ahead of time. On my invitations I told the guests to call her for a custom quote, so now when they call they're being told there's a charge! The real kicker is that she's in a different city, but she said that in order to get a quote, you have to go to her office in person to sign papers and pay $25. Not one of my guests is in her city. I found this out because a guest called to get a quote from her, and he said she was really upset that no one had called her and that she'd been working on different prices for different dates since October. I was under the impression that TA's pull quotes as requested? I don't understand what all she could have been working on since October? I JUST sent out my invitations less than 2 weeks ago, so that would explain why she hasn't gotten many calls, but I also told her at the very beginning that a lot of people will probably book online, but I wanted a TA for those who prefer to go that route. I understand that it can be a waste of time to give quotes and then have people book online, but 1. She should have told me about this fee, 2. She should not be venting on my guests, and 3. Why in the world would they make you request a quote in personhuh.gif

OMG! That sounds so wrong. She sounds really unprofessional (venting to your guests). I have never heard of $25 management fee-it sounds made up IMO. Also, why would she be working on it since October-my TA looks up info and quotes when the guests call her and she doesn't charge for this. Maybe a TA on here can answer your question better, but I think it sounds like nonsense.

We had a TA before this one with Destination Weddings and that TA was very nice, but she kept giving us wrong info for out quotes (she messed up mine, my mom's and my grandma's), plus she seemed very spacey so we decided to go with this TA. I actually have a working relationship with her, which makes this even more difficult! I'm going to call her after work to find out what the deal is, but I'd hate to go with a third TA! Yikes! I'd love to get a TA's take on this situation, so if you're out there I'd love to get your opinion!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
