Thanks for the suggestions Edyta! We are actually considerning the Excellence property because it is an AI all-adult property. I have heard many great things about it also. I am just worried that a few of my guest will not be able to afford it. I have lots of time to find a good deal though :)

Any other advice is greatly appreciated!!

HI Edyta,

We are looking to get married in Punta Cana. I saw your posts and since you have stayed there including the RIU I would like to ask you about the water in PUnta Cana. Are there undertows? Is it safe for children? We have children and elderly in our party.

I also saw that you would recommend Sunscape and Paradisus Palma Real and Majestic Colonial. Which would be the best you think of the three.

Lastly is there a travel agent you would recommend? And wedding coordinators in Punta Cana?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi there,
I seen you asked about children at the reception at Excellence. I imagine they will not allow them, but you can email Wendy, the WC and ask her. Her email is: weddings.puj@excellence-resorts.com

Also, I have heard the ocean has an undertow near Excellence, but they have an amazing pool :)

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Yes the water is safe in punta cana actually it is quite beautiful but it also depends on the day as anywhere else, if it's a beautiful sunny day than the water is calm also it depends which part of punta cana u stay in....the riu and majestic properties are actually very close to eashother and there are tons of hotels in tha area so the beach is a little bit more crowded

sunscape beach is a little bit further away and if u walk along the beach its about 30 min till u reach another resort, so if ur looking for something a little bit more quite than i would go with sunscape also u would probably be able to a better eye out on children at this resort but that is just my opinion

as for the paradisus i have never stayed there but just from pics it looks stunning and was looking at getting married there first when i got engaged...its more of a luxurious hotel and is a bit on the pricey side

the reason i changed my wedding location from punta cana to cabo is that i found it very hard to get any info...the majestic was very unhelpful and took them weeks if not months to get back to me regarding weddings so i gave up and picked cabo which has more english speaking people and is a lot easier to gather info

but anyone of those resorts you choose in punta cana they all have onsite wedding planners so i guess based on the demographic of the people travelling with you i would go with sunscape beach, but if you dont mind having a busy beach than majestic or riu punta cana are beautiful (i love riu properties i find them stunning and great prices)...ill post some pics for you, hotel and beach so u can get an idea of the water also

hope this helps, sry for blabbing let me know if u need any other help

Hi Edyta,

Thanks so much for the information you provided. You looked very pretty in the pictures. I understand your wedding is in May in Cabo. I am looking to get married late this year (October) and I still do not have a location.

I would love to get married in CAbo but I think the water may be too dangerous for the kids in our party. Of course there is always the pool so if it is so expensive at the DR we may end up doing it in Cabo too since there are so many wedding coordinators there that would make it a lot easier for me since my job is quite busy and I don't have much time to coordinate things.

Which hotel did you choose in Cabo? And who is your wedding coordinator? Do you have a travel agent you can recommend?

Once again thanks a million for your help.

I am getting married at Dreams and the ocean is unswimable but I heard that the Hilton is just a 10 min walk and you can swim there...the DR has great prices I find them way more affordable than cabo but that's flying from Toronto...cabo might b cheaper if u live in the US...and yes it is a lot easier to plan a wedding in mexico than in the DR but it also depends on what you're looking for

I am using the WC at dreams since i don not have a large group coming I didnt think i needed any extra help...how many people you expecting?? there are tons of threads on WC in cabo on this forum i can send them 2 u if u like...but i know the most popular WC in cabo amongst the girls on the forum is MAYE CORTINAS

I did not use a travel agent i booked online through selloffvacations.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
